I actually think that the eighties style music lasted untill 1992, nirvana was not nationally known in 89, and rap was still fun in 91.

I never really thought of the Late '80s as being really the '80s though.  The real '80s, the true '80s were 1980-'87.

1988-'91 was the time when everything was going out of style and getting old and corny.  I mean the late '80s were the '80s, but not really if you know what I mean.

I started high school in the fall of 1989, and I remember at that time, no one wanted to talk about the '80s or even mention the fact that it was still technically the '80s.  It was basically like kids were looking forward to the '90s.  That time was not really the '80s, that was a total transition time.  By the time I graduated high school in 1993, no one was wearing the fashion or style that was around in '89 or early '90.

I know what you mean. Most of the time when I say "the 80s" I'm loosely referring to the decade from about 1977 to 1987.

The years from 1988 to about 1993 was kind of a period all its own.

I started high school in '88, and I also remember everyone looking forward to the 90s.

That's odd,

The 80s for me lasted from '82-'92. For some reason or another that era seems all mushed together. The music I listened to (freestyle) died out (for me at least) in '92. and for me, the 80s had the best music ever!

92 was the year the 80's got played out. Grunge and Gangsta Rap were totally going against what the 80's were all about.  Remember there was a time probably that the 70's looked old and the 80's were coming in and the 80's looked very hip. The same thing happened when the 90's were coming in and replacing the 80's. To me all the fashions that looked hip in the 90's kinda look played out to me now and I graduated high school in 98. Time for something new again.
