Quoting:

Comic Strip - Peanuts

End Quote

Technically, "Peanuts" is still in syndication even though they are running previously published strips. Depending on how picky your teacher is about that, you might choose "Calvin & Hobbes" or "Bloom County" instead.

New Sports Teams since 1988 (the four major North American leagues with years in which they began play)
NHL
San Jose Sharks - 1991
Ottawa Senators - 1992
Nashville Predators - 1999
Columbus Blue Jackets - 2000
Atlanta Thrashers - 1999
Florida Panthers - 1993 (reached Stanley Cup finals in 1996)
Minnesota Wild - 2000
Anaheim Mighty Ducks - 1993
Tampa Bay Lightning - 1991

NFL
Jacksonville Jaguars - 1995
Carolina Panthers - 1995
Houston Texans - 2002

MLB
Florida Marlins - 1991 (won World Series in 1997)
Arizona Diamondbacks - 1997 (2001 World Series champions)
Colorado Rockies - 1991
Tampa Bay Devil Rays - 1997 (still the worst team in baseball)

NBA
Charlotte Hornets - 1988 (moving to New Orleans this season)
Orlando Magic - 1988 (reached NBA Finals in 1994)
Vancouver Grizzlies - 1995 (unfortunately, moved from my hometown to Memphis last season, retaining their name...still a bad team)
Toronto Raptors - 1995

Teams That Have Relocated (besides those mentioned in the NBA section)
Winnipeg Jets (NHL) - 1996 - are now the Phoenix Coyotes

Quebec Nordiques (NHL) - 1995 - are now the Colorado Avalanche. (won Stanley Cup in 1996, in their first season as the Avs and again in 2001)

Minnesota North Stars (NHL) - 1993 - are now the Dallas Stars (won Stanley Cup in 1999)

Cleveland Browns (NFL) - 1996 - are now the Baltimore Ravens (won Super Bowl in 2001)

Los Angeles Rams (NFL) - 1995 - are now the St. Louis Rams (won Super Bowl in 2000)

Los Angeles Raiders (NFL) - 1995 - are now the Oakland Raiders (though officially a move, this doesn't really count because the team has been swapping between the two cities periodically for years.  Currently, LA, the second largest North American media market, has no team and the NFL is looking at putting another team there.  It looks like a safe bet that the Raiders are in Oakland to stay.  It is cruelly ironic that LA had two teams and lost them both in the same year.)

St. Louis Cardinals (NFL) - 1988 - are now the Arizona Cardinals.  The above move of the Los Angeles Rams would fill the void.

Hartford Whalers (NHL) - 1997 - are now the Carolina Hurricanes (reached Stanley Cup Final in 2002)

All of these teams that won championships in their leagues after moving had never won championships in their original cities.  Meanwhile, the Raiders did win a couple of Super Bowls during their time in LA but have not won one since going back to Oakland.  Generally, expansion teams, except in baseball, still haven't won championships.  No teams in any of the four major leagues have folded.  The Montreal Expos (MLB), with, by far, the worst attendance in baseball, are likely the next team to relocate, possibly to Washington, in time for next season.  Hope this helps.
