Subject: Still wearing that???

Written By: Meltd0wn on 09/08/02 at 07:09 p.m.

Ok now im just trying to see if there is anyone else out there like me.

Is there anyone else that still wears something out of the past?

To this day My favorite casual shoes to wear are my VANS Classics (the Black & White checked loafers made popular in the movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High")

btw I am currently on my 9th pair. I tend to wear them out.

yes. I have a favorite night shirt that I wear a lot when I wanna feel sloppy. It is so comfortable and I cant get rid of it. not only do I still wear it it prolly should be thrown away especially since I have lost 198 pounds.. it is kinda sloppy on me but I just cant break myself from it. The stores dont have it anymore or I would get a size that fits lol

Awesome!  I'm partial to the VANS Classics lowtop canvas lace-ups.  I ordered a white pair in 2000 (black was on backorder forever) and when I was in CA in July I found a black pair.  I wore those all throughout high school.

My Reebok running "Classics".  They weren't Classics in the '80s.  They've had a few changes here and there and back and forth, but it's still really the same sneaker.

1 of the reasons I like them is that they were 1 of the few sneakers I could somewhat easily buy 80s-style up to now.  But I like over most shoes that they have a good arch support inside, which helps me.  Otherwise, I like 80s-style running sneakers because they're not nearly as garish and hideous as the things that have come since the big obsession w/sneakers (they're bad-enough looking w/o the ridiculous garbage that's been heaped on in the '90s).

And also, they believed in mesh rather than all-leather covering - I really like that mesh shoes breathe and my feet aren't all sweaty like they are w/full-up leather.  If they get hot, I can feel the air currents go thru my shoes.  Great.

Wow, 198 lbs? Congratulations!!  What is your secret?

I know this isn't clothing, but I still wear my hair the same.  I just don't want to deal with a new hairstyle.  (BTW, the style is just worn down)

I still have a jean jacket that I wore in high school in the 80s that I wear  occasionally (okay, rarely). It is faded and bleached (by me...what do you know, we did that ourselves back then :) ) and the inside is covered with the names in ink of all the rock and heavy metal bands that I listened to.

I guess I don't want to part with it because it was so much of who I was in high school, even though it's not really who I am now.

I had a Levi jean jacket that I really wish I had kept. It was faded and had holes and the string from the fabric was hanging off. It was very cool and comfortable.

I still wear my "Class of 1987" sweatshirt with the list of names of everyone in my graduating class!

Of course, I only wear it around the house now because I get looked at like I'm REALLY old!  It's my absolute favorite sweatshirt!

Yeah, I had a Class of 87 t-shirt with all the names of the students as well.  Unfortunately I used to wear it playing hockey and well...its ripped beyond repair and I think my Mom threw it out.  She also threw out my other favourite t-shirt which was from the Racing After Midnight Tour (Honeymoon Suite) from 87 as well...ahhh such fond memories....

I think the majority of us are very fortunate to NOT have the same hair style, though.  I know I had "punk" bangs for a while that stuck straight up in the air!

I have no clothes left from the 80's If i don't wear it in a year it goes to whoever wants it. ;)  I would say for the most part, my style is still 80's with an added touch of 2002.

Kinda off topic, but in the new Cosmo (maybe last month.. ??? ) anyhoo..there is a fashion spread that is totally 80's!!!

I not only still have many of my 80s clothes, I have since bought more 80s stuff at thrift stores and such.  My fave stuff that I STILL wear (to clubs and concerts etc..) include my shocking red Cyndi Lauper-ish petticoat and several "rah rah" style twirly miniskirts...

I still have a pair of black and white checkerboard Vans (shoes). I don't wear them, except when I'm going to an 80s party!!! :)

Yeah, I just bought a brand new pair at Journeys a couple weeks ago.  Friggin' EVERYONE loves them!  People keep asking where I got them.

I just died when I found how much they charge for them now!  It's sick!

So I was in a "kids" Journeys a few weeks ago by mistake and turned around to ask the kid where the adult shoes were and he FREAKS out about my old skool ADIDAS.  I had on my Stan Smiths from about three years ago and told him I had just bought a new pair at Academy for 35.00 the weekend before that.  He was calling over his little hot assistant and she was gawking too...they were impressed that these shoes were still around (working at a shoe store, one would think you'd know such things).  Anyway, just saw at Urban Outfitters that you can still get the perf'd-leather Rod Lavers, but they are 70!!!  I've found them online for 25.00 less and that will be my next shoe - break 'em out next spring...heh heh!
