Heavy Metal Artists for Africa, and I believe the group was called “Stars”. It was like “we are the world” but it was for heavy metal bands. The song they came up with was called “Star”. Does anyone remember this?

Yes I do, they were called 'Band Aid'I believe I have the record somewhere........

Actually, the group was called Hear 'n Aid. It featured 40 hard rock/heavy metal artists of the day, and as you correctly noted, was formed to raise money for famine relief in Africa, and other parts of the world. "Stars" was the title of the group's collaborative song, and it was a moderate AOR hit here in the U.S. in the Spring of '86. "Stars" was co-written, produced, and arranged by Ronnie James Dio. A compilation album was also released, simply titled Hear 'n Aid, and in addition to "Stars", featured previously released songs by Accept, Dio, Jimi Hendrix, KISS, Motorhead, Rush, the Scorpions, and Y&T. Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S...

Gawd you are quite right!?! Where on earth did I get Band aid from?? The woman is loosing it.............. ::)
