Subject: "...with my boyfriend..." Kia Commercial

Written By: mollask on 09/20/02 at 08:20 a.m.

What is the song title and artist name of the newest Kia commercial with the young lady driving with different boyfriends. One is allergic to her dog, one has his feet on the dash... The premise is that the Kia lasts longer than your boyfriends. I remember the song from high school, but not the artist or name. The lyric they play over and over is "with my boyfriend".

That's what they call it?  Where does that lyric come in?

I never knew this song before; Mariah Carey covered it apparently cuz it's on her album, but she called it "Boyfriend" or some such.

Thanks for responding. I was able to make a female friend at work very happy with that knowledge. As far as where the lyric comes in... It's all through the song. It's not a very lyricly challanging song.

No.  They only lifted the little quirky synth line and built a song around it.  You know, how her and that idiot Puffy Duddy and all those morons don't have an original thought in their collective heads.

Am I the ONLY person on this ENTIRE forum who likes Mariah Carey?    :)

I don't know; I haven't had the pleasure of hearing the entire 80s recording, but I've heard enough to identify at least most of the lyrics as the same, as well as the melody and background.  Well, maybe it's just the chorus/refrain.  Carey's version is called "Fantasy" - and you can hear it in "Rush Hour" when the little girl is singing w/it before she gets kidnapped.

No. I like her version of "I'll Be There" and most of her other hits.

Here's a link to the lyrics:

TBH, I didn't recall hearing this in the 80's when it came out (which is strange, because I recall TTC's "Wordy Rappinghood" from the same album).  But I heard it all the time going out to clubs in '94....
