Subject: Favorite early FOX network shows

Written By: pell on 10/03/02 at 03:25 p.m.

Remember when the FOX network was justing starting in the late 80s, and it had only one or two nights with original programming? Then they gradually added new nights as the network became more popular.

What were your favorite shows from that early period?

I was a big fan, because it was so different than the other networks. Here are some of the shows I watched:

"Star Trek: The Next Generation"
"21 Jump Street"
"Alien Nation"
"The Tracey Ullman Show"
"Booker"
"Duet"
"The Arsenio Hall Show"
"Married With Children"
"The Simpsons"

That's all I can think of right now.

I remember FOX when "In Living Colour" was on. You had Chris Rock and Jim Carey starting their careers. BTW, Chris Rock is a great comedian and Jim Carey isn't very funny anymore. Also, New York Undercover was on to in around the early 90's but really didn't catch much of that show. Really don't watch FOX anymore except for Football anymore.

I remember all those shows, including Beans Baxter! ;D As for ST:TNG and Arsenio, they were actually syndicated, but were on a lot of Fox stations, TNG was on mine. The station switched to WB last year, but I still get Fox on satellite. We should be getting a new local Fox next year.

I love the Tuesday night lineup, (That 70s Show, Andy Richter, and 24) that and football is all I watch on Fox now since they canceled Family Guy! :(

I loved the Tracy Ullman show, Gary Shandling (and I still remember the theme song made me laugh every time I watched it), Living Color, Parker Lewis Can't Lose was my favorite  ;D ! I also liked Ben Stiller's show which was not on very long, and didn't John Legiuzamo have his own show for half a season as well? I vaguely remember watching that, it was funny.

their "early years" Sunday night lineup was great:
(not in any particular order)

"Gary Shandling Show"
"Get a Life"
"Married with Children"

Sunday night was my favorite night for TV shows whaen that lineup was on.  I remember Married with Children was on around 10:00-10:30 pm because it was considered "too raunchy" for kids.  Man, if only they could see the crap thats on TV nowadays!

"Parker Lewis Can't Lose" was an absolute delight.  It was so creative and different from anything I'd seen before.  Combining teenage angst with surrealism was brilliant!  The cast was terrific too.   And despite all the strange stuff happening, each episode offered some very down-to-earth insight about growing up (but it never got overly sentinmental).

I wish I could find this show on video or DVD; I'd probably buy every episode.

I think the early days of FOX were much better than today. Married With Children, War Of The Worlds, Friday The 13th The Series, Werewolf, Second Chance, Women In Prison, Mr. President, The New Adventures Of Beans Baxter, Parker Lewis Can't Loose, Charlie Hoover, and GET A LIFE!

I used to love Herman's Head. I remember one show when Yardley Smith (I can't remember her character's name) said to people, "I do not sound like Lisa Simpson! Do I sound like Lisa Simpson?" I just laughed.
