Subject: Breakdancing Coming Back?

Written By: Sagnastian on 10/15/02 at 00:31 a.m.

I recently went to a dance last saturday night.  I seen kids that maybe like 14-16 breakdancing on the dance floor to Ludacris "Saturday".  I was bugging out.  I grew up in that era.  I was born 1980.  I was always facinated with breakdancing and still am.  Anyone who can do it really good I love to watch.  These kids were quite impressive.  There was some girl there from Chicago and she was doing really good.  Another guy from my hometown was good too.  They were like having a dance battle versus each other.

The one great reason why the 80's era was the best decade.

Pop culture recycles itself a lot.  I wonder if those kids know that what they are doing is not brand new?  Because in the '90's, kids were running around doing the grunge thing and acting like it was so original and new, when it was all done before in the '70's.

I also recently talk to some high school kid that I work with and asked him about it.  He said yeah, during lunch, there's always kids breakdancing in the gym somewhere.  He knew what it was, so am sure those kids know what they're doing.
