Subject: the best 80's compilation?

Written By: rehpotsirhc on 10/15/02 at 02:36 p.m.

I'm looking to buy a collection of 80's music that is the best/most complete.  I read the reviews on this site and was wondering if anyone had a collection they prefer or know of a good one. thx

Well, backwards Christopher...I downloaded all my faves off a P2P and made my own compilations...that way I got what I wanted!

There are so many out there....I suggest that you just go to your local CD store and start browsing and pick the one that has the most songs on it you love....

Or easier and better yet, browse amazon.com for a while and make your choices.  Better than standing for an hour like a fool looking thru various choices (not all that are available, BTW, as on amazon) to pick out just 2 or even none, and collapse from exhaustion!   <---- :-[   ::)

here's what I did:  I went to different sites, for example, Amazon.com, and looked through all their 80's albums, then went to www.Imesh.com and just downloaded all those songs/albums and made my own collection.  I guess you could substitute Imesh for probably any music swapping site, they are all about the same, but I recommend Imesh.  I have built myself quite a large collection, and the best part is that it cost me zero $$$.

I would suggest EMI's "Living in Oblivion" series (I know of five volumes) but this is hard to find.  I also have "Pure '80's," "More Pure '80's," "Pure '80's Hits" and "Pure '80's Rocks" as well as "Monster '80's" volumes 1 (purple) and 2 (green).  These are also great compilation albums.  Actually, I rip MP3's off them and burn them and make my own '80's compilation CD's.

Yes, I agree make your own. This winter I went thru my collection of approx. 500 albums and gathered tunes from various web sites and right now I'm up to 57 CD's that I've downloaded and burnt. Next step will be to get a multi CD player....(open to suggestions) put them all in hit shuffle sit back and listen  :) ;) :D
