Subject: 80s fans in the Atlanta Area...

Written By: Tobias Winkler on 10/28/02 at 08:28 a.m.

Hi there,

I'm a German exchange student at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and I'd like to address true 80s fans in the Atlanta area to write me an email. Maybe some of you are interested in a conversation? Are there special 80s parties or clubs in the area? Will some of you go to see Soft Cell on 21st Nov. here in Atlanta in the Variety Playhouse???

Hope to hear from you!

I am originally from Atlanta, and there was not much of an 80s scene there at that time.  Georgia Tech's radio station played alternative and 80s at the time, but no commercial stations did.  There was no punk club I know of in the late 70s early 80s there.  The Sex Pistols played at a music hall that used to be in Broadview Plaza in '78, small venue.  The B52s played in a tiny club in '78 at Highland and Virginia, but that club also has disentegrated.  Good period music came out of Athens, GA at the time with likes of REM, Pylon, Lets Active, and more playing at a famous club there.  GA State's station played a 48 hour 80s show earlier this year, it was pretty good, recommend you check with them.
