Subject: The Neverending Story

Ok, I'm stumped !  This movie is a fave of mine and for some reason no matter how many times I watch it I can't figure this out.  When Bastian is in the attic of the school reading the book, near the end he's to give the Childlike Emperess a name...  he goes to the window and calls it out...WHAT is the name he gave her ?

Well according to this site it is Moon Child :-/

Quoting:2. What is Bastian's "new name" for the Empress, which he yells out of the window?
Bastian names the Empress "Moon Child", as in the book.

I could never figure that one out either. I thought it was supposed to me the same name as his mothers name.

That's what I thought too--I mean, he says that his mother had a beautiful name before he named the princess, right?

But I have read what dagwood said too... ::)

Maybe they didn't want to make what he said clear--that way anyone watching/reading the Neverending Story could "end" it anyway their imaginations would let them.

Here's a site I found that has a sound clip of Bastian calling her name.

How interesting.  I had always wondered what the name was, too.  It was such a wonderful movie!  8)
