Subject: St. Elmo's Fire

They just played it on A&E, and it was better than I remembered. I wonder, did anyone recoginze where that college town was ???? As for the movie, I felt bad for the guy who had a secret crush on his friends fiance/girlfriend. It almost felt like she jumped him as a way to break up with her boyfriend/fiance. It is also interesting that they picked to meet at a resturant rather than their bar at the end of the movie. I guess it signifies the party is over.

Hey I just bought this movie on DVD and it is very good.  It has alot of cool special features, which alot of 80's DVD's don't have.  I found it sad how Andrew McCarthey's character loved Alley Sheedy's character but it was kind of like she used him because her boyfriend had been cheating so she wanted to do it to get back at him.  I did like the end where they decided to go to Houlihans instead of St. Elmo's Fire bar.

Hi John,

According to the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com), the on-campus scenes were filmed at the University of Maryland. (The script calls for scenes of Georgetown University, of course, but apparently the administrators of that institution wouldn't permit filming to occur there.)

I thought that sucked too. And to do it to a friend. Even if her boyfriend cheated on her, why pick another friend to get even with? That makes it all the more painful.

But it is a great movie. It was good to see some of the Breakfast Club members in a movie again.
