Subject: Tour of Duty Soundtrack

Written By: Amanda (Guest) on 12/06/02 at 08:59 a.m.

Ok, Do any of you remember the show called Tour Of Duty? I believe it aired from '87 to '90. Anyways. Im trying to find out what the song is from that movie. It was played during the opening credits. The same song is on the closing credits on a PS2 game called Twisted Metal 4. I heard it last night and its making me crazy not knowing what its called or who sings it. I dont even remember the words. Just the tune. If anyone could help Id be grateful! Thanks!

Yes I remember that show.  It came in Hollywood's "healing the wounds of Vietnam era."  The show came on the heels of Platoon and Full Metal Jacket.

The opening theme song as I recall is the classic "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones.

It didn't last too long down here as I recall

And Jeffpcmt is spot on - Paint It, Black by the Stones

I used to watch that show, and China Beach..loved 'em.

Definitely a classic song. Someone (can't remember who) covered it a few years ago. It was on the soundtrack of "Stir of Echoes", but the cover wasn't nearly as good.

I agree, Tour of Duty was a great show. I think the sargent was my favorite character. I think the show started going south after malcom jamal warner joined the show. somehow, i could not see theo hucstible in vietnam. But it was a good show. It would have been nice to have a cameo by george peppard or tom selleck. But I did like the show alot.
