Subject: Jem and the Holograms

Written By: jenna_lynn on 12/16/02 at 09:56 p.m.

Does anyone remember Jem?  People around here that are my age just don't seem to!  I personally had all of the dolls...and I knew all the songs...Does anyone else out there remember??  I was born in 1982...so it must have been on sometime in the mid to late 80's...

I remember watching it RELIGIOUSLY when I was a kid ;D

I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to admit that ;)

I think I like Jem better when she was in Jessica mode though.

I remember one episode where one of the girls (Jems younger sister, I think) went to this park and this guy gave her some free drugs. when she went back again the guy charged her money, and she stole from Jem because she was "Hooked". Thats about the only thing I remeber, exvcept that the toy was doomed from the start, it was just an attempt by another toy maker to cash in on the popularity of Matel's "Barbie and the Rockers" line.  What can I say, I had two sisters.

Sorry to correct you, but it was JERRICA, not Jessica :)
I was looking on E-bay last night during a span of boredom (when I was supposed to be studying for finals...) and you wouldn't believe the stuff from Jem they are selling on there!  I could probably pay for college if I sold all my old dolls and accessories!  I was such a spoiled kid (only child) that I had every single doll, stage, EVERYTHING!  I still have it all too....

Now, how cool would it be to have earrings that changed you from your normal everyday self into a rockstar?  And that whole Syergie computer??  Way too cool.... :)

Synergy ;)  Right back at you, sister ;D

I KNEW I was close!  However, I wasn't comfortable enough with my sexuality to actually buy the dolls...I did have a lot of He-Man toys though ;D

I used to watch Transformers and GI Joe...They were all on around the same time as Jem...I had two older cousins who had all of the Transformer and GI Joe toys...We'd play with them and Jem together...lol

I can imagine it.

Jem:  "Oh, no!  Synergy is malfunctioning!  Save us, Optimus Prime!"

Optimus: "Autobots, transform!  And roll out!"

Sgt. Slaughter: "Eat my lead, Cobra!"

;D

It's kind of amusing, I am sitting here with my parents, naming off prices of the JEM dolls on e-bay.  I Also looked up some other toys I had...Care Bears, My Little Pony...The 80s were the best!  My little brother (who is 12) thinks I am old, since he's never heard of any of this stuff...haha

I watched this show all the time, I had some of the dolls and owned a few videos.  Have no idea where it all went, but I'm such a packrat the way it is, I bet if I looked I could find them somewhere.

All I remember is making fun of Jem, cuz she had some pretty BIG feet...lol...

I loved Jem!! I can remember the names of two tapes I had..Hot Time In Hawaii and Glitter and Gold. I also had some of the dolls and remember crying for days when this boy I used to play with who lived in my building cut off all their hair!! >:(
