Subject: MTV's launch

I just have two quick questions.  I'm not sure if anyone would know, but I figured it was worth a try.  It may sound stupid, but it is something me and my friend have been wondering about for a while.  When MTV launched on 8/1/81, did they play "Video Killed the Radio Star" immediately after the rocket/astronaut sequence, or did a promo or VJ sequence air first?  If the video aired right after, then when was the first promo and the first VJ sequence aired?  Thanks for helping!!!

THere was a VJ spot first (the guy with the dark curly hair) who announced what was going on and intro'd the video.

Yes in fact it was Mark Goodman.  His famous quote was something along the lines of:  "From now on music will never be the same again."
