Subject: Mysterious Hair Metal tune

Written By: V-MAX on 12/27/02 at 01:22 a.m.

I heard a tune in 1986 but to this day I don't know who played it or even the name of the song. The group sounded like Kix with a lot more edge. The tune had a strong L.A. Hair Metal sound with a slow but pounding rythem, and the singer didn't sing, he shouted! It lyrics went

"UUHH! (begins the song)
I am a Rock! Living inside of you!
At night you try to set me free!
I am the brains of everything that you do!
Just get me started you'll see!...

(chorus)
I am the Tomorrow! Yea, yea!
I am the Tomorrow! UUHH!
LONG! LIVE! ROCK! Long live Rock and Ro-ll!
LONG! LIVE! ROCK! Long live Rock and Ro-ll!"

The lead guitarist ended his solo and the song with a wild sound effect simular to a rapid fire lazerblaster in an arcade game. This was not a remake of Blackmore's (Rainbow) tune "Long live Rock and Roll" like the ones from Gamma Ray and Lizzy Bordan; it was an original.

I've sent out at least 50 emails in the past 2 years in search of this tune with no luck. Everybody so far has been completely stumped. I really need this tune to complete my recent Metal collection and I'm feeling desperate at this point. If anybody can help me out here I would be in your debt.

V-MAX, I for one love "Hair Metal", but this song does not sound familiar. I  have a nice collection of "hair metal" c.d.s but this doesn't ring a bell.

I only wish I could find this tune soon, coming up with nothing after 2 years searching is getting very discouraging. I used to post a reward in the e-mails I sent out in search of this thing but I wondered if anybody took me seriously (if you knew how much I am willing to pay just for the information, you probably wouldn't believe it). If somebody ever does help me out here, and their information happens to be correct; I'll request a mailing address and send them a Money Order with an amount that will make them say "#@&$!! I could buy two hookers in Las Vegas with this!"

By the way, I like that icon. It's the coolest I've seen so far. Kinda like a cross between Gene Simmons and the singer for Armored Saint. If there's a way, I'd like to get an icon of a white shark. You get one guess what my favorite Rock group is, heh!

I don't know it, but I've passed your post on to someone who might. Stay tuned.  ;D

Man, this is a tough one. Three bands come to mind - W.A.S.P., Keel and Loudness. It just may be Loudness prior to their Thunder In The East album. I believe they re-recorded some of the Japanese releases into english for the European market. I have these albums but they're a little hard to get to right now. I know it's not much but maybe a good starting point. Good luck.

Definitely wasn't W.A.S.P. Ron Keel? I don't think so but I'll check into it. Ya never know.

I was wondering about Loudness when I scanned one of their albums at CDUNIVERSE but they didn't have a sound sample for that one. Thanks guys for helping me eliminate that one from the list. That was a big help.

I just moved back to L.A. CA last Thanksgiving, and figured that I would find this tune in a day by visiting the shops on Hollywood & Sunset Blvds. I was tragically mistaken: The 80s style Metal scene is dead out here. I've got to keep looking though because that one tune easily makes my top 10 list.

If only I would have searched this thing out in 1986 before I moved to VA and drifted out of Metal for about a decade, I  know I would have easily found it then. Now, even if I find out the info. on this tune; it's sure to be a rare-as-hell CD that I'll have to pay triple digits for (not counting the generous reward I'm going to pay to the first person who can crack the case).

I posted a bit more info. for the tune on the "Lyrics and songs" board. It might help connect the dots. 8)

You may want to search out those Metal complications that Mike Varney put out in the 80's. I think one series was called U.S. Metal. I was thinking maybe Steeler but that still involves Ron Keel. How about The Bulletboys?

Whoops!!! Nevermind Bulletboys - first album didn't come out till '88. Two years out of your timeframe. Sorry

Are you Positive those are the lyrics?

If so then it's not a song i'm thinking of.

Helix - Rock You

Nope, it's not Helix, definitely not Twisted Sister, and I don't think it was Keel (I think that was "Right to Rock"; that wasn't it). If you ever heard it, you would never forget it. That tune Rocked!
