Subject: I've Had It

Written By: ThunderVamp9 on 12/31/02 at 00:15 a.m.

Oh, for the love of God, CUT THE SH!T!!!  I swear, I used to love coming to this darned board every day, to see what was up, hang with online friends, reminisce about the 80's, the many things we had then, the music, the movies, the MANY frigging artists, and the fun.

Now, all I can ever seem to find are incessant posts about a once-talented-but-now-trying-to-keep-up-artist named Madonna, a poster with no tolerance for people who don't feel a need to WORSHIP Madonna, arguments from those opposed to said worship and also said intolerance, hijacked threads pushing Madonna on us, and if not those things, then complaints about board members, whining about people posting when one isn't on, obsession over a little cyber-flirting, people posting just for the darned hell of it, even if what they post makes NO f'ing sense whatsoever, people replying to their own posts repeatedly, for GOD knows what reason (most likely none), fights about immigration, politics, religion(? Not sure, losing track here).

This place used to be FUN to come to, now I'm finding myself posting less and less, getting short with others more often, having a HELL of a lot less fun, and starting to frequent other 80s boards more and more.

This place had ONE edge over other 80's boards I visit - a sense of community, of belonging.  Now it just seems like a place where people come to be as*es.  Well, I choose not to be one.   And until others here have also made that choice, the only posts you'll see from me will be to let you know when the radio show is on.

This is just f'ing ridiculous....

Lighten up dude! It's all relative ya know: One man's wisdom is just another man's worthless bullshit. We all have something to contribute to the conversation, including you, that's what makes it interesting. By the way, I agree: Modanna sucks!

Pardon me for mis-spelling the name of your godess. Please forgive me for my blasphemy, heh!

Of course it would be pointless and futile for me to attempt to debate the artistic value of the whench...OOPS!...I mean her Royal immaculate Highness Madonna (see? I spelled it right this time. Of course if I really cared I would have spelled it right the 1st time) with a person whose username is ilovemabona ...OOOPS!....20 Hail Marys....I mean ilovemadonna. After all; millions of boneheads...OOPS! I mean...millions of fans can't be totally sold out to worship a mediocre stage slut...OOPS! I mean...wrong about such a talented artist whose spreading leggs for commercial promotion...OOOPS! I mean...whose merits speak for herself, be wrong.

Like we used to say in the 80s; "More power to ya!"

ThunderVamp - honestly - I couldnt not have said it better myself.

Have a happy new year matey.

Maybe while we are all out celebrating - the hostage taker will find a Madonna forum to hang out in.

Bravo TV9!  You have said exactly what I have thought for a long while.

You deserve a beautiful girl to run naked down YOUR street now! ;)

You know, I guess I am just plain weird.... (or else someone is slipping prozac in my food unbeknownst to me...).

Because you know what? I don't care if Don complains in every thread. I don't care if certain people make love to each other on the games board. I don't care if the political debates get a bit on edge at times. I don't care if some silly Madonna fan post a million Madonna threads (she is at least highly entertaining ::) ).

I come here and I have fun. And I let everyone else do their thing. And ya know, I have gone thru 43 years of life, trying to figure out why everybody else on the planet gets all wound up over minutia... And I don't understand it and I never will....

To paraphrase the now immortal words of Rodney King: "Can't we all just.......... er......... take a valium?" ::)

"Just my opinion -- I could be wrong" :P

Modified to add: Okay, you can all throw rotten veggies at me now! I'll duck! ;D ;)

THANK YOU. now are you guys done complaining yet??? if you come here to have fun then why do you waste your time complaining? there aren't that many madonna threads so i think you can ignore them and stop wasting peoples time with all this crap about the sky falling because someone loves a certain person and wants to talk about that person with other people. and the reason i still come here(instead of only my madonna forum) is because the people here are friendly and i've gotten to know them too well to just pack up and leave because some people have a problem with my love for madonna.

Listen, ilovemadonna, I loved Madonna too, back in the day.  She was such a hottie every red-blooded heterosexual American male had a crush on her!  You were too young to remember when Madonna was so hot!  And back then, all the girls wanted to be her…just like it is with Britney Spears these days…

Some of those sentiments sound familiar, TV9. A lot like those sentiments expressed by that certain annonymous poster a little while ago who complained about all the game threads. The one who would never reveal himself. The one who you championed. Hmmmm...

Don't have a coronary please TV9. I understand your frustration all too well. You have to remember not to take all this too seriously and not to invest your emotions here. Afterall, these are just messageboards. Nothing more.

Skip the annoying threads, especially those started by your particular disliked posters.

Threads will no longer be hi-jacked. That's been taken care of.

"ilovemadonna"'s Madonna single board spamming has also been taken care of.

So....

Relax.

I'm here now to kick some virtual butt, if need be.  ;)

let's all calm down for a moment.. this person has been out of control for a couple of days.. it hasn't been like a month or something.. most of her inappropriate posts have been removed from the threads they didn't belong in, and the repetitive threads she started have been taken care of...

we all have to remember that Hairspray and myself can't moderate the site 24/7.. and that it sometimes takes a day or two for a problem to be taken care of once it arises...

when I first saw the multiple threads, I let them go because I chalked it up to a newbie not understanding how things worked.. had I known sooner about the offensive postings in other threads I would have moved quicker..

judging from her response to people asking her to stop it (and her responses to Hairspray), I feel I have to ban her.. probably the quickest banning I've done in ages.. and maybe the first one in about four months.. it happens.. time to move past it and get back to normal activity..

I did not champion the anonymous voters in the past.  I defended Hairspray and their RIGHT to vote anonymously.  And the sentiments here do not reflect what was being decided then, which had to do with the games board.  While my opinion of that board has long been known, and not anonymously I might add, my issues that I am stating here are completely unrelated to what occured then.

Of course, the first part of my post had to do with ilovemadonna, but ALSO with the constant bickering SURROUNDING her.  From Vampira, from DeeMoe, from MAX.  And while it was a recent incident, it got MORE than frustrating to look in a thread and find more of the same, even on unrelated topics.  It was said, ignore their posts.  But when you keep finding them everywhere, it just gets too much, and Hairspray and Chucky should NOT have to police this board constantly because of childish, immature idiots who can't restrain themselves.  It stops being fun not only for me, and apparently others whose sentiments I have hit upon, but also for them.

We have people bitching about other board members, again, notably there is the one for ilovemadonna, but there was also one, which Hairspray deleted, attacking long-time member Crazy Don.  Yeah, he screwed up, which brings me to another one of my complaints, his obsession over Mystery Woman and her little bit of cyber-flirting with him, and his "jilted lover" act.  There's also CD's many complaints about how we post when he isn't on over and over, which Hairspray had to post about herself!  This had become such a problem, not just with me apparently, that HS had to make a POST ABOUT IT!  I'd always thought it was just me getting so annoyed with it!  Imagine that!

And people posting just for the hell of it...  You must have thought I meant the games board?  No, I mean here in the 80's board and the PPP.  Let's see we once again have ilovemadonna, but we ALSO have Ghetto John!  My God, how many times can a person post a meaningless, useless nothing post in one day?  Let's see, we have :
Ghetto John's Corner
Ghetto John's Corner II
HEY GUESS WHAT?!?!
Who's Going To Win

These are just EXAMPLES!  There's this incredible reply to a poster in a thread regarding his posts: "because im tired, and when im tired i do/say incredibly stupid things. and well ...i completely forgot what i was going to type/say or whatever, and now im going to shut up, but i dont need help, i just need sleep " followed immediately by this one " :)".  Or how about this one, which is in the "Most Annoying Thing In The World" thread, another of his creations:
and if the world suddenly ran out of cheese,
he would get down on his hands and knees,
to see if someone accidently dropped some cheese in the dirt,
and he would whipe it off for you,
clean it off for  you,
clean that nasty cheese off just for YOU!,
you are his cheese,
burg,
ERRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!!?  And these are just a sample, my friends.

The "Liberal or Conservative" thread, well, I stayed away from that one, and it degenerated quickly into just what I expected.

Yes, I could ignore posts from those that really get on my nerves, but come one?  When you go into the PPP, and there are 20 new threads, all started from the same person, isn't that a bit much to take, on a continual basis?  Even clicking the link INTO the PPP has become a waste of my time at that point.  Or reading a thread, and suddenly there's a post by one of these people, that you didn't even know was COMING.  Skip right over it?  Unfortunately, my brain likes to read what it sees, and of course, now you have to skip a myriad of posts all in response to the one you skipped over, with 1/4 of them quoting it.  That's not fun.  Andf you also have the quandary, when just skipping threads started by these people that maybe, just MAYBE, someone in there DID say something worthwhile.

What happens in the games board does not concern me.  I rarely read it, I rarely post in it.  It's another world to me.  The rest of this board is my most frequented stop on the net, and lately it's just not much of a stop.  I'm sorry, Chucky, but it's true, and I see some agreement here.

Hairspray, you know I loves ya, and I don't envy you one bit the battle you and Chucky are fighting here.  This isn't a coronary, it's just a little bit of having enough.  I'll keep an eye on things, and when I think the maturity level has risen above High School and under again, I'll be back.  Unless I get hooked elsewhere.   ;D

This place has been an addiction, but until recently a GOOD addiction.  I hope it can be again.

I know how you feel about nonsensical posts on this board, and yes, I agree that several of them are stupid and have gotten out of hand.  But everyone has the right to post what they want, as long as it is in agreement to the forum rules of course.  Not everyone is going to like what everyone else posts.  So you kinda just have to learn to live with it.

As a newbie here, I apologize for any posts that I have done that have offended people, but they are my thoughts and feelings.  I do try, however, to stick to the subject, whereas there were some posts that came out of left field.  What we all have to try to remember is that we are all different races, ages, genders, etc. with different tastes in music.  Let's all think back to when we were 13-16 and how we could get fixated on something.  I loved Duran Duran back then, and nothing you could say or do would change my mind.  And, I probably rambled on and on.  I think we should all take a few deep breaths, smoke a cigarette, have a drink, whatever we do to relax and all try to love one another! :) ;) :D ;D :-*

No they shouldn't.  THEY have a hard job.  Like ANY job, it has it's peaks and troughs, and issues such as you have raised are the ones that the moderators have to deal with.  It would be prefereable if they were left to do so without the value judgements of others.

You shouldn't insult other people's maturity or intelligence.  You did it at the start of your message and again now.

It's not right.  Other people have a right to post on here, and if you don't like it perhaps you have to look at yourself too.  As someone else, or a few people suggested, just let it go.  No-one is interested in your 'judgement' on the maturity level of others.  You do that, keep an eye on things.
