Subject: Forgotten Grodies

Written By: Daffy on 01/13/03 at 02:11 p.m.

:-XI was tooling around on Limewire and came upon a truly hideous song that I had rightfully and mercifully forgotton. It was this gay-rodded song "All Touch" by Rough Trade. I am mad at Limewire for reminding me of this. They also had an even bigger bag-o-vomit called "High School Confidential".  Look this stuff up...it's BAD!! Any other Forgetten Grodies (as I have dubbed them) to add to this? Go ahead! Remind us of a few more! I'm already waking up in fits of terror over the Rough Trade thing so a few more won't make a difference!  :-X

I'm not gonna slam Rough Trade because they're (as Don Cherry would say) good Canadian kids! but I have to agree that those songs...well they rank right up there with Thompson Twins "Lies"...grodie! To the Max!!

The Thompson Twins were indeed grodie! Unfortunately, there are way too many 80's programs that insist on playing the crap to let them be mercifully forgotten!  >:(

Hair Wrock/Cheez Metal like Motley Crue and Poison. I remember in high school playing those cassettes and albums and MST3K-ing/Kareoke-ing them to death with the other kids a la Beavis And Butthead. Those were some really embarrassingly-grodie tunes :) :D ;D

Motley Crue...Dude, anybody know how to type umlats? For that matter does anyone know how to SPELL "umlats"?

You know, I didn't realize it at the time, but Ratt sure was gay.

I like The Thompson Twins, dag nabbit.

I hate to break it to you people, but most of the entertainment industry is gay and always has been.  ;)

With all the groupies and supermodels that Motley Crue have soiled, I highly doubt that they are gay, same goes for Poison. I personally think that the only thing grodie about groups like The Crue and Poison was the way they dressed and wore make up. I used to love their music, now I don't really care much for it, but I still think it takes a lot of talent to write music that millions of people have enjoyed.

No no no! Sorry, I didn't mean "gay" as in homosexual, I meant "gay" as in "cheesey bad dorky". Like,"Christ, those pants are so GAY!!!" I thought Ratt was just really cool and like the next Beatles or something...but they weren't...they were gay! :P

For those that wonder....I'm not...never have been....sheesh what a stereotype that is! It p*sses me off no end when people stereotype...Oh, you're an actor...gay huh?...or my personal fave...you're a musician? Oh..know where I can score some coke?...Dag nabbit people...just because I'm a musician doesn't mean I'm a druggie...likewise, just because I'm an actor doesn't mean I'm gay...

Yep there was a time when it seemed like most of the entertainment industry played for the other team...not so much any more...and in reality, not so much then either...a couple bigger known stars "come out" and soon everyone thinks everyone IS...

I've had MANY gay friends and many of them take an especially malicious delight in telling their straight friends their favorite performers are gay (whether they really know what they are talking about or not!!!).  I mean, just because these people are miserable (at times) about their homosexuality, doesn't mean they've gotta make all us miserable too, darn it!

It was not a personal statement, Jonman.  :-/

For The Record: I never for one second thought of you as gay, Jonman.

In reality, however...

If you were to take all of the mucisians, entertainers, actors, painters, choreographers, painters, etc., etc., and placed them all on a giant scale with one sid being gay/bi/trans/drags and the other strict heterosexual, you'd see the scale tip heavily, mostly towards the gay/bi/trans/drags side.

Also, For The record: I like all people equally and am not prejudiced.

Boy, misuse the word "gay" and we're way off the subject here!  Any other long forgotten bands or music that was crap and is kinda funny (or traumatic) to think about now? I personally like to tease my husband about his King Diamond album.... now THAT'S grodie!!!
