Subject: do you remember this doll?

Written By: 80s girl on 01/26/03 at 12:19 a.m.

I'm trying to find the name of a doll that was produced in the late 80s or early 90s. She was a battery-operated ballerina doll that could spin on one toe and walk, all via remote control. She came with one of those ballet bars, had painted-on white tights, a headpiece of some sort, and blond hair (although there was probably also an African-American version). I remember seeing this doll in stores and in TV commercials, and I remember begging my mom to buy her for me, but I don't have the slightest idea what she was called. Does anyone else remember her?

My sister had one and I can see it in my head just as clear as if I were holding it in my hand but I cannot think of the nameof it...I will try to find out for you.

If you could find out the name for me, that would be great! I can see her in my head, too, though I never actually had one (I just always wanted one; at the time, I thought she was the coolest doll ever!)

Well, I havent been able to find the one that I remember but here are a couple that I have found...
One is Dancerella from the 70s.

and the other is Dancerina which was introduced in 1968 and was actually the doll made PRIOR to Dancerella...it was altered a little in the 70s and called Dancerella..

I really dont think either of these is what you are looking for though....they are too early...I will continue looking for 80s.

Yup I remember this doll! Her name was Cindy & the manufacturer's tried to make her in the image of Barbie but it didn't work after a few years & she disappeared...I used to want one too...

Long live the 80's,
Starlight :)

Thanks for the info.  Cindy doesn't seem familiar, though, and the doll I'm thinking of didn't really look anything like Barbie. She was more of a play doll, and was a lot bigger than Barbie. I think she was called something like My Beautiful Ballerina, and she was sold during the late 80s/early 90s wave of battery-operated dolls (like Oopsy Daisy, Baby Alive, Baby Check-Up, etc).

Baby Alive was sold in the 70's - I had one as a kid.

Hmm... I also had a Baby Alive doll when I was younger, and that was definitely in the early 90s! Maybe it was an updated version?
