Subject: V THE SERIES

Written By: tiedye71 on 01/31/03 at 02:32 p.m.

Does anyone remember that TV show about lizard like aliens that invade earth called V The Series? It started out as a movie and later they made a TV series out of it. I think it came out in the early to mid 80's.

Yes I remember that series. Robert England (aka Freddy Kruger) was in it. The slogan was "We are your friends". My favorite part of the show was when they showed the aliens eating the rats. Yummy! I have the complete set of their comic book series also.

I remeber the mini series on tv.  ;D ;D I was glued to the set, I loved that show. I remember the birth scene too, where the lizard ate its way out of the stomach, rather than the traditional delivery. I bet this series made alot of people start supporting the second amendment (just kidding).

I'll never forget the birth scene when the lady who was pregnant with one of the alien's baby's gave birth and she had a little girl who turned out to be half human and half lizard.

I loved V: The Mini-Series! It was really cool when it first came out! I actually caught the entire series a few months back on cable, and it still holds up pretty well, except the special effects are a bit cheezy by today's standards! I also watched the weekly series, but unfortunately, it only lasted half a season! :)

I saw V:The movie a couple months ago for the first time since it originally aired.  I still loved it, although it was kind of cheesy compared to how I remembered it.  I'd love to see the series again though.  Oh yeah, Joanna Kerns was in the movie too, pre-Maggie Seavers days. ;D

It was actually done in 2 mini-series, the first being V and the second being V: The Final Battle.  I have both on VHS, and I loved the series, although I could never figure out why in the series, the Visitors didn't have the weird voice reverberation to them that they had in the movies.

Which one of the two was the one where the woman gave birth to the lizard baby. The one where the main hero guy makes it onboard the alien ship to kill the queen woman? Am I getting the two confused?

They were both part of V: The Final Battle.  The part you're thinking of is when Donovan broke abouard the L.A> ship to free Julia, and tried to assassinate Diana.  But it turned out to NOT be Donovan, but an alien in the Fifth Column wearing a Donovan mask.

One word: budget

I wouldn't have thought adding reverb to the voice track of the actors would substantially increase the budget.  Most of the time the voices are dubbed anyway, reverb should be a simple setting to that characters voice track...

The TV series was no where near as good as the mini-series.

I thought that the TV series was a campy mess.

Does anyone know what the name of the actress that played Julia?  I remember having a serious crush on her.
