i just thought of something else as i was scanning through all the old posts, does anyone out there remember chinese jump rope? at least that's what we called it, it was like a giant rubberband that two people would put around their ankles and stand apart , while the other person jump on it in the middle of them, i think it went something like on it , in it, out it, etc. ;D

Actually, it was in, out, right, left, in, on, out.  We used to play this all the time.  I wish I had girls so I could teach them some of these things.  Boys just don't get it.

I remember that game (somewhat).  I lived in a tropical place and we would loop many rubber bands together to make it long enough and then attach it to two coconut palms!  Although I don't really remember the rules, I do know that it was a lot of fun jumping over them!!!  ;D

Why were they "Chinese"?  ???

Is this one of those "French-fries" type of names?

Well, I always called this game French skipping.  We used to do the same pattern as 80s_cheerleader and raise the height each time you were successful at it.  I could never get higher than knees.  :(
