Subject: Retro Renegade

I have listened to the station on the web several times, successfully.  Saturday afternoon I had it on for a few hours.  But when I joined the chat late Sat. night, I couldnt get it to connect.  It does the same thing to me now.  If I try with Winamp, it times out every time.  If I try the various ways directly from the web site, it tells me it cant connect to server, or that the station must be down.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what might be causing this, please let me know  ???

This is hard to answer.  I just turned on my Winamp to check and see if I got the same problem, and it connected fine. I then tested with WMP, and it also connected fine.

However, I have seen that the embedded player on the website, and on another website I've setup, both no longer connect to the stream.  I believe this is due to a change Live365 is implementing on the 13th, where listeners will be required to log into Live365.com first, and launch the stream from THEIR webpages.  They SAY that once you launch it, it can be launched into the third-party player of your choice, e.g. WinAmp.  Personally, I trust what they say about as much as I ever trusted Clinton (NONE).

I've already taken steps to make it so my listeners don't have to actually visit Live365.com to log-in by having my page open their page in an iframe on the Listen link.  You can log-in and launch from there.  This does not work on some browsers, though.  For those browsers, you will HAVE to go to Live365.com and log-in before you can tune in.

I know it's a real PITA, but they've got us all by the shorthairs.

This COULD be part of your problem.  They're not SUPPOSED to implement it until the 13th, but then, they aren't supposed to shut off embedded players until then, either....

I had a problem connecting, too.  Make sure you have Java enabled.  It worked for me.  If that doesn't work, I have no clue

Well, today it suddenly decided to connect again, with nothing changed.  So, for now, YAY!
