Does anyone know the "hidden" meaning of these lyrics?
Specially that "I should run on the double"?

I saw from your post about the Smiths that you are Brazilian, so I will assume that your native language is not English.
"On the double" is a phrase that means "as quickly as possible" (I presume it originally meant "at twice normal speed").
I think he has not been in love for a long time, and is scared of the unfamiliar feelings he has for his new object of affection. He might be getting himself deep into a new relationship, and this "trouble" might not turn out be a bad thing, but he's nervous and unsure. :)

Yes, you're "double" right. My mother tongue is Brazilian Portuguese and I remembered to use the old Babylon to see the meaning: it is really "in a fast way", "right away" and so on. I thought before it was some slang of the "hidden" kind. Thanx.
