Subject: Searching for 80's Retro Club Songs

Written By: TheLordShiva on 03/03/03 at 11:40 p.m.

Hey, I'm looking for someplace (a website) where I can download a complete selection of 80's Club songs (techno, synthi-pop, new wave, etc.) mostly obscure stuff.  In Houston,Tx during the 80's there was a club called Club 6400 that played nothing but this type of music and some friends of mine and I are trying to put together a collection.  It used to be you could do a search on Napster.com on Club 6400, but we all know what happened to that.  If anyone could help me out and point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.  Thanks!

Hi LordShiva.  :)

Here's a link to an earlier thread discussing 80's club music:

You can find some of these on KaZaA.

Hope this helps.  Good luck in your search.  :)

Another fellow 6400 fan! I spent many nights there myself. I loved the music. It was quite hard to find a lot of the songs, because I didn't know the artists. But now I have quite a few mp3s of the late 80's club music. That is funny what you said about Napster because that is how I found some of the songs. I would type 6400 in the box and get a lot of hits. It even works on Kazaa.

I used to d/l songs off of AudioGalaxy but I haven't been on there for ages.  I have had some success getting songs from KaZaA Lite and WinMX.

I'm planning on setting up a website featuring the music and other things of that WONDERFUL club... Club 6400!

At the moment, I just have a listing of the tunes I have... when I get more time, I'm going to work on this.

http://www.club6400.com

See ya!

The site looks like its going to be nice.  If that is your whole music collection then you might want to email me at lorenrwolfe@hotmail.com so you can make your collection more complete.

Peace,

Loren

I have about 5 6400 cassettes and 1 Xcess cassette.  If any one is interested in trading let me know.  I can also identify any songs on them.  I also have some other club tapes.  Remember Clubland?  Detour? Bayou Mamas?

Nice site www.club6400.com, but could you put the list by order of artist?

I remember Clubland (the old tower theater, right?) It was 21 and up wasn't it? I wasn't old enough to get in. :(

Wasn't 'Detour' 'Clubland' after a name change? Or was it where Cooters used to be. What was that clubs (Cooters) name before it changed to Network?

I went to Bayou Mamas a few times, didn't like it as much as 6400.

Decadance was after Clubland, Detour was were Cooters was.
Did you ever go to "Faces"  Remember when that whole rundown plaza was nothing but clubs?

Whoops, I see you weren't old enough to get into Clubland, so you definatly didn't make it to Faces.  We didn't go to Clubland much because we went on opening night and we were dancing on a stage and they brought out a live donkey.  They also played a wide variety of music which I don't like.

I must be the only one that likes listings by song title. LOL!!! No biggie, I swapped them around to list by artist now.

I have totally slacked off on doing anything with this site for the time being due to being swamped with my other web projects, but I SWEAR I'll get back to doing something with it.

I was planning on offering an MP3 download of the week kind of thing, but seeing as how the RIAA is sending out their big, scary cease & desists letters, I don't think I will now.

Any ideas on goodies for this site??
