Subject: To the younger 80's kids..

Written By: Helpinghand on 04/22/03 at 12:50 a.m.

Questions to those younger children of the 80s (if you look at the previous subject, it seems to be anyone born between 75 and 77, maybe through June 30, 1977!)..
Does anyone remember from Saturday mornings:

1. "In the news" on cbs..short news segments designed for kids..
2. Schoolhouse rock on ABC..classic!
3. Those commercials with the cast of Sha Na Na saying it was OK for girls to work on cars (if a guy can do it, a girl can too!!)
4. The short lived Dukes of Hazzard cartoon

I was born in 1976, and I don't remember #1.  I definately remember #2.  I don't remember #3.  I have a vague memory of a Dukes of Hazzard cartoon.

Hehe actually school house rock started as early as '74 so you had 6 year olds listening to it then till they pulled the plug on school house rock in the mid 80's

As for Sha na na I like Bowser's character I still remember him pumping his arm to make his tattoe move

I liked "Im just a bill, yes I'm only a bill and I am sitting here on capitol hill"

It still amazes me that I can remember those songs and not remember what I need for my job the next day :P

I can't believe someone remembers "In The News". On saturday mornings I used to watch it.  If memory serves me correct it came on right after the Star Trek cartoon. It would start off with a globe spiraling around in the distance coming closer to the viewer, right?

I liked school house rock because it had some catchy tunes.  Plus, I was a big fan of trains at the time and "Conjunction Junction" was nothing but.    :D  I just d/l it off WinMX last night.. sure brought back memories <sniff>

YES!! I'm not crazy someone remembers it..the spiraling globe that came closer to the screen..then a lil jingle. I have yet to find anyone else in their mid 20s to early 30s who actually remembers that. EVERYONE between about 25 and 35 remembers schoolhouse rock
(Lolly, lolly, lolly get your ADVERBS here, lol)..the best was the chips one..the old computer one which would be meaningless today..it did end in sept 1985..but was revived a year or 2 ago..not sure if it's still on

I think School House Rock originally came from the early 70's, before a lot of us 70's babies were even born.  But like The Superfriends, which was also originally from the 70's, it was rerun ad nauseum througout the 1980's.  I'm sure that School House Rock continued to be rerun even after 1985.

Yeah, it probably ended in 1985 or 1986. But I could have sworn I saw it back on in the early nineties when watching cartoons with my younger brother.
