The current issue of "Women Who Rock" proudly dis[lays the woman I've always worshipped, Joan Jett, on it's cover.  While  reading through, I thought of Joan back in the day when EVERYONE knew who she was.  She has now rocked FOUR dacades!!!  What other RockGrrls of the 80's does everyone else still love today?

I really liked the Bangles and not for "Manic Monday" or "Walk like and Egyptian". Thier older albums had a folksy feel to them and I loved the song "live"

Anybody remember Susie Andrews, she covered "Der Kommissar" (original by Falco)?  I heard 4 covers of Der Kommisar: Susie, Falco, Afte the Fire, and a soul version (don't know the artist).  I think Susie's was the best, she had a voice like vanilla ice cream.

I can't believe the German heavy metal goddess Doro Pesch hasn't been mentioned yet. She rocked with Warlock in the 80's on four albums and has been solo ever since 1989.

Pat Benatar is probably the most gifted vocalist ever.

Lita Ford wasn't the greatest singer, but she had attitude beyond balls. She rocked with Joan in the Runaways, but I liked Lita's solo career better. I actually thought her highest selling album 'Lita' which featured the Ozzy duet was her weakest album. "Out for Blood", "Dancin on the Edge" and "Dangerous Curves
rocked.

Last but certainly not least in Ann Wilson. She is my favorite female vocalist although I have high praise and respect for the first three I mentioned. Ann Wilson and her sister Nancy could sing me to sleep on my worst days and listening to them got me through some real hard times. If you are unfamiliar with the album "Passionworks" I highly recommend it.

The Go-Go's are my all time fave 80s female musicians.  But I also loved Siouxsie Sioux, Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Harry, the B-52s girls (Kate and Cindy), Tracey Ullman, Bangles, Wednesday Week, Kate Bush, Poison Ivy from the Cramps, Strawberry Switchblade, Lene Lovich, the Waitresses (well, ok some of the band members were male), Excene Cervenka from the band X, the Human League girls, Tina Weymouth from the Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, and Annabella Lwin from Bow Wow Wow

For those of you interested, on Joan Jett's website, there is posted an open letter regarding Rolling Stone's   Greatest Women of Rock issue wherein the writer points out many of the neames missing from the list that are much more deserving of a place than modern  singers such as Brittany Spears, Shakira, and so on.

Pat Benatar gets my vote as the Top Female Vocalist...Lita Ford for Top Female guitarist...Susanna Hoffs for Sexiest Female Rocker...

And I agree with Floyd..if you haven't heard Passionworks by Heart do yourself a favour and pick it up. It was the very first album I ever heard on CD and the sound was incredible...

Lita Ford and Joan Jett have got to be at the top of my list, along with all the other ones mentioned before, but does anybody remember Sandi Saraya? She had a song that came out in 1989 called "Love has taken it's toll". This woman has an awesome voice and the song rocked.

I forgot to mention Poison Ivy, she rocks too, and the B52's girls. This is so cool, i love Strawberry Switchblade, when i mention about them  a lot of people say "huh?", even the old timers.
and of course Anabella from bow wow wow too, I heard they are back but not the same, i still couldnt get over the fact that the guitar player died due diabetes (8 years ago already?), he was my very fave. Kinda looking like an Andrew Eldritch (sisters of mercy) with a mohawk :)

Nena!!!
Chrissy Hynde from Pretenders
