Written By: Dance4Ever4392 on 05/28/03 at 04:17 p.m.

Hello! I'm new here, but I must say, I LOVE the 80's! In social studies class we are doing a "decades" project and my group got the 80's we were pysched! LOL! Anyways, this site is AWESOME for info, but I was wondering if you could give your personal input on some stuff (ha ha the parts I have to do! :P hee hee) like, famous movies or actors during the time (already got lotsa movies from site but not many actors, except molly ringwold. lol! ) and....radio or television programs (I heard that the Cosby Show and Cheers were huge...I still watch the Cosby Show! ha ha any other big ones though?  especially radio! :)Thanks!) presidents of the decade...awww i can find that on google....ooh, this is one i really need - literary figures and their works....
and last of all, ANYTHING ELSE THAT'S COOL!!! hee hee I LOVE the 80's - ferris bueller, Thriller, and Molly Ringwold. How much better can it get? And don't forget big hair! I was born in the 80's....ok, 89, but whatever. It's all good! ha ha TTYL, and THANKS SOOOOOOO MUCH for ANY help! lol :P I'll be back, off to check out some more of the movies, this is great!!!

??? Quick question: Would you consider Jimmy Carter one of the presidents from the 80's decade??? I know he served until late 1980 so I'm not sure if he should be included or not...

Personally I would not.  I just think of Reagan ('81-'89) as the "President of the 80's".

Also, as far as your other questions, just take a look around this board & I am sure you will find all the answers you are looking for.  Good luck.

No.  He was only president for 1 year in the 80s, that's not enough.  Jimmy Carter was late 70s.  The 70s presidents were Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.

In the 80s it was Ronald Reagan.

In the 90s it was Bush Sr. and Clinton.

Technically Bush Sr. was very late 80s, he was President in 1989, but like Carter, that's just one year.  So I always felt Bush Sr. was early 90s.

Night Court was popular, too.

As for presidents...Jimmy Carter was president in 1980, Ronald Wilson Reagan was sworn in in 1981.  Then in 1989 George Bush Sr was sworn in.

I agree-wouldn't include Carter-his impact was in the 70s.

A very big actor of the time was Tom Selleck.People had huge posters of him plastered on their office walls, I remember.

Sally Jesse Raphael had a radio talk show, giving general advice,in the early 1980s.I used to listen to her show but don't know which station it came from.

Talk radio was emerging in the 80s and so were talk shows on TV. Music basically went all to FM stations. Before that, AM had top 40 music radio.

Other popular actors thatI can think of who represent the 80s : Kathleen Turner was big, Sylvester Stallone,River Phoenix,
