Subject: Garbage Pail Kid stickers

Written By: Bobby on 07/09/03 at 03:27 a.m.

I remember collecting these when I was little (only about 6 or 7). They featured people like 'Wrinkled Rita' and 'Grim Jim' and were absolutely amazing.

Of course, it kicked up a major stink as the images were revolting. Take a look at this site for more info on them.

Also, has anyone seen the movie - What was it like?

oh yeah, I was smack dab in the middle of GPK...I was like 8 or 9 then.  I had up through 7th series i think.  The gum was aweful.  I loved the little comics on the backs of the later series.  I remember one about one kid with a really bad acne problem who had tape ripped off his face and puss flew everywhere.  Nice.   I even saw the movie but don't remember much of it.  I do remember it was pretty funny to me back then.

Ah Garbage Pail Kids. That takes me back. Never had much interest in them myself though. Being from the U.K., i understood 'garbage' but not the 'pail' bit, since over here 'pail' is only an archaic word for bucket. I think i was interested in a similar kind of collectable. Forget what though. May have been them smilie face ones. All i remember is that i gave up collecting them quickly cos you couldn't really get them in the local shops and you had to go into the nearest town to get them - which i rarely did. Oops. Must stop rambling. :P

I still have Garbage Pail Kids stickers from 17 years ago. They're sure a collectors item. ;D

I may be wrong - cos my memory is crap - but i think over here they were cards rather than stickers.

They were stickers because they had 'Peel here' at the corner of them. Also someone plastered GPK stickers on a bedroom door once, before I had moved into a house in Bushbury.

I couldn't tell at the time because, at the age of 7, it was my first taste of bubble gum even though I wasn't allowed it. I was quite rebellious then . . .

I used to collect Garbage Pail Kids stickers.  A few that come to mind were Snotwich Sandra, Beulah Ghoul, Dial A Twyla (sp?), and Post No Bill.

You weren't allowed bubble-gum, Bobby?

Why was that?

No offense, but you have to be American ;)  ;D

I'm not American, Hoeveel - I'm British.

My mum wouldn't allow me bubble gum because she was scared that I would choke on it.  :-/

Heheh. K. Weird :) I was told not to eat gum (literally swallow) cos it would stick to my ribs (or end up in my appendix) but i think that was an old wives' tale and was meant in jest.  ;D

I got scared of bubble gum with those type of stories. I felt so big in my early teens eating Jaw breakers! Forget cigarettes! Jawbreakers were the path to manhood for me.

How would the gum taste after 17 years later?  :P ;D

It would depend on whether you've chewed on it before hand.  ;)

Last gob-stopper....ahem, Jaw-breaker...i remember having i nearly choked on.

And does anyone remember them (most likely British) ones that were the size of a baseball? You are meant to lick 'em down to size but my mate put the whole thing in his gob and it got stuck  ;D
