Subject: Dumbest rumours of the 80's

Written By: Stinger on 07/10/03 at 09:52 p.m.

Any you were told/heard?

Here's something my freinds told me, actually not too long ago...

Remember when Micheal Jackson's hair caught fire in '84?  Well, My friends assumed it was the first face operation he had.

These rumours don't exactly have to come from the 80's, they can be about, too.   :-/

Brooke Shields and Michael Jackson were involved.

Yeah, sure. Riiiiight. ;D

Michael Jackson and Emmanuel Lewis were involved.  (hey you never know)

There were a ton of other Michael Jackson rumours, like he used mirrors to do the moonwalk or that he slept in some weird oxygen chamber, etc, etc.

Speaking of Emmanuel Lewis....At the height of the TV show Webster's popularity in 1984, Emmanuel Lewis was actually 13 but playing a child much younger.  BUT I remember hearing all kinds of rumours that he was actually much older and like 19 or 20 years old.

Alfonso Riberio (Silver Spoons, Michael Jackson Pepsi commercials) died somehow.  (Obviously not true since in the 90's Alfonso played Carlton Banks on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air)

Mr. T was gay.  (apparently some people took that Eddie Murphy joke a little too seriously)

Every member of the New Kids on the Block was gay.

A ghost of a child was supposedly visible in the movie Three Men and a Baby, but it was later revealed to be a minature cardboard cut out of Ted Danson that some prop guy left in the shot.

That dorky kid that played Paul, Kevin (Fred Savage ) Arnold's best friend on the late 80's show The Wonder Years, grew up to be Marylin Manson in the 90's.

I heard that as well but the person that told me swore that it was true.

Of course it's true. He not only grew up to be Marilyn Manson, he changed his name from Josh Savino to Brian Warner.  ;)

Any you were told/heard?

Girls in my secondary school were convinced George Michael was heterosexual; imagine their disappointment when...
Also Marc Almond from Soft Cell was rumoured to have been hospitalised as a result of swallowing 2 pints of bodily fluids, anyone shed any light on that??

Ho! Ho! Yep, remember that one going around our playground too, goodsin...I'm not exactly sure how it came about (possibly a bored music hack), but in reality Marc was hospitalised due to nervous exhaustion near the end of a UK tour - nothing more exciting than that!

Remember when Andrew Ridgeley (of Wham) was photographed on more than one occasion with his nose all plastered up? In one of the most unconvincing rumours of all time, he attempted to divert the fact he'd had a nose job by claiming to have been attacked in a nightclub with an ice bucket! Sure...just the same as you get black eyes by walking into a door, Andy...

I was only very young in the 80's to be hearing rumours......
However I do remember -

Michael Jackson had surgery in order to look like Princess Diana!!

Wasn't that Diana Ross ??? Another rumour doing the rounds was that Michael & Latoya Jackson were/are one & the same person... notice how you never see them in public together ???
In reply to earlier entry re Jackos' "relations" with Bubbles, there was rumour that Jacko was going to release "I'm forever blowing bubbles" as a single...

Oh i remember some rumours!
one of them was about Poltergeist movies, the poltergeist curse... where 3 of their actors (the little girl, the eldest daughter, pluss the native american) died due a big curse, because the movie played with out of this world unknown forces.... The little girl died from wrong diagnosis and was buried in the same cemetery as and only a few graves down from "Poltergeist" co-star Dominique Dunne, who was strangled and became braindead, the few days later , she was removed from life support and died... And the native american died during a heart surgery right after the movie was released (poltergeist II)

Also another one was really nasty so I hope this is not against the group's rule. Well, in my school it came a rumour that one of the guys from New kids on the block, have to be pumped because he swallowed too much sperm. Can you imagine??? My friend who was an obssessed fan, was shattered, she was crying and frustrated because if this happened, then Jordan (i guess) was gay! so she wouldn't have any chance with the band, when they visited in our country. ROFL

ROFL can you imagine how a rumour/gossip grows to uncredible proportions? He sure would need thousand volunteers to get enough 'stuff' to need to be pumped LMAO Now I know why many celebrities never care to read anything that the press write about them.
