I just read at www.comingsoon.net that the movie "the final countdown" is finally going to be released on DVD on August 19th. I know there have been posts in the past wanting to know about this movie.

Thats great to hear! Its a great hybrid of sci-fi/historical/military drama with a great cast...Kirk Douglas as the captain, Martin Sheen as the inquisitive reporter and Charles Durning as the "missing US senator. Who can forget the scene where the F-14 Tomcats dogfight the Japanese Zeros?!
