Subject: CEREAL??

Written By: REDSOXFAN1 on 07/27/03 at 08:17 a.m.

Does anyone here collect old cereal boxes or remember any good cereals from the 70s or 80s? I remember a cereal called DONUT HOLES (NOT Dunkin Donuts that was different). They were little powdered cereal pellets that tasted like a white powdered donut. Anyone remember? Also if anyone has pics of cereal boxed from the 1970s or 80s, I'd LOVE to see. I think there is a lil too much variety in cereals now to be honest..kids just like too many weird creepy things now!

I don't collect old cereal boxes, but I found a website that I just love, there are lots of photos of old food packages.  There is even a section dedicated to cereal boxes...

What a great site. It really took me back to my childhood. I like the section on the parks. I went to a few of those as a kid. Thanks.

Thanks for the link, I've passed it on to several of my friends and family.

The cereals I remember are Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry and the werewolf one that I can't remember the name and no one belives exsists.  I also remember the cookie cereal when it had a cop and robber as it's mascots instead of the wizzard.  And a cereal sort of like Captin Crunch except it had a man dressed as a king on the box.

Fruit Brute  or, as he would howl, "Fuh-ROOOT Brute!"
I also have a hard time finding anyone that remembers that one.  One of my faves, along with FrankenBerry, Cap'n Crunch Berries, and Quisp.  And the good ol' days of SUGAR cereals:
Super SUGAR Crisp
SUGAR Smacks
SUGAR Corn Pops

No wonder kids are lazy now!!  They're missing out on that Saturday morning sugar rush!  :P

My favorite cereals when I was a kid were the Count Chocula, Boo Berry and Frankenberry.  Also, there is a fourth Monster Cereal alot of people don't remember and for the life of me I couldn't remember I just remebered the Monster was a unky werewolf in Hippy type clothes.

Watching Pulp Fiction the other night I saw Eric Stoltz supposedly eating this cereal! The box is prominently displayed.

The timeline of the movie and the actual film date of the movie
is far after this cereal had already been canned by General Mills.

I'll keep the name a secret so you can investigate for yourself.

Peace,

Loren

Fruit Loops and Cap'n Crunch have always been favourites of mine since I was a kid.

I'm sure I would have liked Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs if they made it!  ;D

One breakfast cereal I remember from my childhood, I think it was called "Krazy Kow"; to the best of my recollection, it was sort of like "Cocoa Puffs" except the milk turned chocolatey.

Hi, don't know if you're resident in the UK, but if you are (or you're visiting ever) there is a museum of antique to modern food packaging at Gloucester Docks, Gloucester. May be 'right up your street', by the sound of things...
