1980 - Use It Up And Wear It Out - Odyssey
Never heard of it

1981 - Ghost Town - Specials
Loved this song!  VH1 Classics plays the video for it once in a while.

1982 - Fame - Irene Cara
Addictive in an irritating way  :D

1983 - Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) - Paul Young
Don't think I've heard this one, but I may have blocked it out.  A lot of his songs sound the same to me.

1984 - Two Tribes - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
Not as good as Relax, the dance mix goes on for too long.

1985 - There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart) - Eurythmics
Okay song, not my favorite by them.

1986 - Papa Don't Preach - Madonna
Again, addictive in an irritating way.

1987 - Who's That Girl - Madonna
Prefer the Eurythics song by this title.

1988 - Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You - Glenn Medeiros
Can't remeber ever hearing this one.

1989 - You'll Never Stop Me Loving You - Sonia
Same as above.

1980 - Use It Up And Wear It Out - Odyssey - ...who were bigger here than in their homeland...this was good-time out-and-out disco which a lot of Brits may not admit to liking, but I bet they do! Blow them whistles!

1981 - Ghost Town - Specials - ...a chilling soundtrack to Thatcher's Britain of '81...unemployment and racial tensions on the rise, leading to widespread rioting in the inner cities over the spring/summer months...remember it well...still, at least there was a Royal Wedding to look forward to...

1982 - Fame - Irene Cara - ...record and film died on their backsides when first released here, but when the BBC decided to show the TV spin-off "Kids From Fame", there was no stopping it...gloriously over-the-top...anyone still got the leg-warmers?

1983 - Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) - Paul Young - ...the spiky-haired one finally got a hit after a year of trying with this update of a little-known (at the time) Marvin Gaye song...does tend to go on a bit...

1984 - Two Tribes - Frankie Goes To Hollywood - ...yawn! Still there! By now, we'd had the 5th remix of the record, the book, countless "Frankie Say..." T-shirts...did the PR men hot hear of overkill?

1985 - There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart) - Eurythmics - ...must admit, did like this at the time - but sounds oh-so-dated now...

1986 - Papa Don't Preach - Madonna - ...after pulling almost every track off the "Virgin" LP as a single, Madge proceeded to do the same to the "True Blue" LP...despite Ms Osbourne's efforts, this remains tedious...

1987 - Who's That Girl - Madonna - ...and here she is again! This time with a theme from a film hardly anyone remembers...once again, hardly awe-inspiring...

1988 - Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You - Glenn Medeiros - sloppy, inoffensive piece of fluff, much played at wedding receptions at the time...took its time getting to the top, was actually a US hit over a year before! First recorded by none other than George Benson (who really should've known better...!)

1989 - You'll Never Stop Me Loving You - Sonia - ...Scouse lass who was sucked into the Stock/Aitken/Waterman hit machine and was never seen again! Catchy at the time, but would pass as an instant party-killer now...

1980 - 'Use it up and wear it out' by Odyssey.
I like this disco classic. It was covered by Pat and Mick about 8 years later.

1981 - 'Ghost Town' - Specials
I liked the song initially, then the wailing started to irritate me. I guess it was an important song at the time.

1982 - 'Fame' - Irene Cara
Hmm. Ok - I saw the video recently and found it quite strange to find a happy scene marred by a fight between Bruno's dad and a taxi driver.

1983 - 'Wherever I lay my hat' - Paul Young
Paul Young can be quite hit or miss. This one was alright but nothing special. I know he can kill cover songs ('Love of the common people' and 'Softly whispering I love you' rings a bell).

1984 - 'Two Tribes' - Frankie goes to Hollywood
Not a bad song. Quite punchy but not as good as 'Relax'.

1985 - 'There must be an angel (playing with my heart)' - Eurythmics
I kind of liked this time period for Eurythmics (1984 -1986). '1984 Sex crimes' and 'Thorn in my side' were excellent. As for the video to this. It was a bit wierd - Especially Dave Stewart.  :)

1986 - 'Papa don't preach' - Madonna
Not bad song. I liked the video (was Danny Aeillo in that one?)

1987 - 'Who's that girl' - Madonna
Not too fuss on this one. Soundtrack to the film imaginitively titled 'Who's that girl'. I think it featured Coati Mundi from 'Kid Kreole and the Coconuts.

1988 - 'Nothings gonna change my love for you' - Glenn Medeiros
It's an alright song. For some reason I confuse this one with Boris Gardner's 'I wanna wake up with you'.

1989 - 'You'll never stop me from loving you' - Sonia
SAW's liverpool lass was flavour of the half year. She had other hits but became a casualty when SAW split up. Recently was on a celebrity show featuring Britain's stars of yesterday (which was won by Spandeau Ballet's Tony Hadley) called 'Born in the USA' (?) It was a godawful attempt to ressurect her career - needless to say it didn't work.

1980 - Use It Up And Wear It Out - Odyssey Annoyingly catchy - and that dance, oooh no!!

1981 - Ghost Town - Specials Great song

1982 - Fame - Irene Cara I gotta admit I do love it!

1983 - Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) - Paul Young Awful piece of mindless fluff!

1984 - Two Tribes - Frankie Goes To Hollywood A good song from the lads, but nothing beats 'Relax'

1985 - There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart) - Eurythmics I love Annies 'La Na Na' twidly bits in it.

1986 - Papa Don't Preach - Madonna Not Madonna's best 80s tune IMO, nevertheless it's a classic.

1987 - Who's That Girl - Madonna One of Madonna's best 80s tunes ;D ''You're spinning round and round, you can't get up, you try, but you can't..."

1988 - Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You - Glenn Medeiros Makes me laugh when I hear it - it's so soppy, but I gotta admit to liking it!! ;D

1989 - You'll Never Stop Me Loving You - Sonia Another cheesy SAW product, but I do kinda like it!
