Subject: Need help with a song title!

Ok all I know about the song is that the phrase "Stand By Me" is constantly repeated throughout the song, it's likely part of the chorus. It's really upbeat and I believe it's from the late 80s or possibly the early 90s but not totally sure
...Also the tone and style of the music reminds me of bands such as Violent Femmes, James, or the Soup Dragons.

You don't possibly mean "Train in vain" by the Clash??!
That was 1979/1980. Doesn't sound too later 80's to me.
