Subject: An 80's Toy Question NEED HELP PLEASE!

Written By: Beta_Capsule on 08/05/03 at 02:05 a.m.

hello everyone!

i had a question about an 80's electronic device.
i want to know it's name maybe you can help?

the device itself resembles that of a tape recorder
it is silver in color with blue trim.
it can record your voice and play it fast or slow,
via a protruding mic.

the commercial had a mischievous boy tricking his sister
into believing that their parents had come home early.

they also made a girls version of the toy in pink later on.

any wild guesses? this is killin' me!
well, thanks for reading!

Hey Beta_Capsule,
It wasn't a TalkBoy was it? They are silver coloured with a protruding mic and there is also a pink girls version of the home alone TalkBoy as well.

The only thing is these are from the 90's and from looking at the ones on ebay, I don't see any blue trim on the TalkBoy either. So this probably isn't the toy you are talking about, but the commercial sounded like something from Home Alone TalkBoy advertisements.

I remember the commercial!  The boy's sister was on the couch making out with her BF.  He records himself saying something like "Hey kids, we're home early" into the machine and then goes behind the couch and plays the tape with his voice altered to sound like the dad.  The sister and her BF quickly move apart from each other.

I think it was called Talk Boy.  I don't remember the ads for the Talk Girl.
