I remember Degrassi Junior High.  Noggin or "The N" as the teen programming is called has a new version of Degrassi based on the original.  I was rather hoping that it was the original but it's not.  Do they air the original anywhere else?

Yeah, the DeGrassi series has been resurrected by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) as DeGrassi, The Next Generation. I only watch the episodes that have more of the original cast members other than Archie ("Snake"), as he is a regular cast member on the new show as well. He plays a teacher.

I loved the original DeGrassi Junior High/DeGrassi High series. I watched it all the time!! Did you know it spawned originally from a show called The Kids Of DeGrassi Street? That aired in the early 80's, and some of the kids you see in the later series were in that as well. The only one I remember offhand was Caitlin, but there were others.

We still get the original series on the Showcase network early in the morning here in Canada. :)

my favourite character from degrassi high was claude. he was classic as the ever-so-serious goth. then he blew his brains out because caitlin turned him down. (or maybe it was the lyrics from depeche mode or the mission that did it. kidding) hey, i was a suicidal pseudo-goth in high school so i can relate somewhat to what poor claude went through.

I loved Claude. I often wondered if he was a Smiths/Morrissey fan...not because he ended up committing suicide or because he was depressed, but because he was this sort of melancholic mod-goth kind of guy. He wasn't a very good poet though. Maybe he could have learnt something from Morrissey. But he did seem like a real sweetheart and Caitlin was really mean towards him. He didn't deserve that!

I wish noggin would show the old ones!!  Spike was always my fav!!! I loved her mohawk:) The new Degrassi isn't too bad, I watch it too, whenever some of the old Degrassi characters show up. If anyone has been watching the new one Snake and Spike got married.  Joey is a regular character too, at least lately.

I agree!

I recall seeing a Degrassi spin-off called "The Pit".  It's about a bunch of college age students who resurrect some old building and called it "The Epitome".  Anyone remember it?  I think it had Joey in it as well.  Again, I think it aired on CBC.

Yeah, I remember that show.  A kid from my high school was on that show.  Remember that guy called B.L.T, well, he was in my family studies class and recently he was on Kids In The Hall Christmas special that they play every year.  He was one of the servants.

Small world, isn't it!  :D

His name was Tyson Talbot, and he played Billy Taylor on The Kids Of Degrassi Street and Jason Cox in three episodes of Degrassi Junior High. I don't remember him at all, actually...

Anyway, he was charged with second degree murder in the beating death of a 23 year old man in Toronto. Sad...:( Go here for more info:
