Green Door got on your nerves after a while, as did Lady In Red...still don't think I could play it today.

The rest I remember dancing to with fond drunken memories.

1980 The Winner Takes It All - Abba
I like this song but I'll always feel that their 70's material was the best!

1981 Green Door - Shakin' Stevens
I'm not familiar with this one.

1982 Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
Ugh!  This wasn't so bad when it first came out, but now I just have trouble listening to it. :-/

1983 Give It Up - KC & The Sunshine Band
This made it to #1?? :o A very mediocre song and not a patch on the hits he had with his band!

1984 Careless Whisper - George Michael
I used to love this song when it first came out.  I think I need to listen to it again, as it's been a while.

1985 Into The Groove - Madonna
Infectious.  I always thought this was one of her better efforts.  :)

1986 The Lady In Red - Chris De Burgh
I know a lot of people don't care for this song, but I like it.  It's one of the few songs my mom would let me play in the car when we'd ride together to college. ;D

1987 I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett
Never cared much for this song.  His older material is so much better!

1988 The Only Way Is Up - Yazz & The Plastic Population
I'm not familiar with this one.

1989 Swing The Mood - Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers
Gotta love Jive Bunny! 8)

...knew there was something I forgot to do...!

1980 The Winner Takes It All - Abba
Superb vocal from Agnetha with veiled references to her divorce from Bjorn the previous year...one of their best...

1981 Green Door - Shakin' Stevens
Despite being one of the most successful artists of the 1980's over here, Shaky's stuff rarely gets played these days...this was a pedestrian jog through the ancient Jim Lowe song from 1956...ask your grandparents...!

1982 Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
After lying low for a bit, Kevin & Co adopted a new image and bounced back with this hackneyed piece of hoedown...sadly rather tedious, due to incessant overplay...

1983 Give It Up - KC & The Sunshine Band
Another comeback...KC hadn't had a hit in over three years when this caught the publics' fancy and became his biggest seller here...actually a solo effort by the man, it retained the Sunshine Band's name on the record...harmless bop-a-long number...

1984 Careless Whisper - George Michael
George's first crack at do-it-yourself (oo-er!)...has reached standard proportions, but like Dexy's - very overplayed...Andy Ridgley contributed a couple of words to this song and made a fortune...!

1985 Into The Groove - Madonna
After several near misses, Madge finally attained her first #1 with this tune from the 'Desperately Seeking Susan' film, which is nowadays probably only remembered for this...one of her better ones...

1986 The Lady In Red - Chris De Burgh
Much as I like some of Chris's stuff, this was just unbearable...! Insipid tune which isn't helped by his straining on the high notes...but, sometimes these things sell...

1987 I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett
The world waited in anticipation for MJ's new album, and this was released as the taster...not a good move, as this was one of the weakest tracks on it...once again, still sold...

1988 The Only Way Is Up - Yazz & The Plastic Population
A typical piece of late 80's dance fodder regarded as an 'anthem' by some...terribly dated production...

1989 Swing The Mood - Jive Bunny & The Mastermixers
Actually two guys who used to assemble these medleys and ship 'em out to the clubs...it was only a matter of time before one was unleashed on the public, and once it was it sold by the bucketload...enormous novelty value and therefore a limited shelf life...still prefer the full-length originals...

One where I know all the songs at last!

1980 The Winner Takes It All - Abba 3 it's o.k. but they've done better

1981 Green Door - Shakin' Stevens 2 not my kind of music and my dad loved it. Nuff said

1982 Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners 4 still like this one and can remember the dance someone at school made up.

1983 Give It Up - KC & The Sunshine Band 3 loved it at the time.  Reminds me of that summer.

1984 Careless Whisper - George Michael 2 not a good song IMHO

1985 Into The Groove - Madonna 4 could dance along to this one still

1986 The Lady In Red - Chris De Burgh 2 not my thing at all although we did choose this as our wedding dance

1987 I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett 1 bleeugh!

1988 The Only Way Is Up - Yazz & The Plastic Population 5 can still dance to this and it reminds me of Friday nights at the Student Union

1989 Swing The Mood - Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers 3 o.k. I suppose

1980 The Winner Takes It All - Abba A strong Abba song using the extended metaphor of love being a game - that's the main thing I like about the song

1981 Green Door - Shakin' Stevens My god this man makes me laugh - awful, plain awful

1982 Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners Over-rated, actually prefer Save Ferris's cover more

1983 Give It Up - KC & The Sunshine Band  Ok

1984 Careless Whisper - George Michael ''Guilty feet have got no rhythm' - classic line from one of the best love songs of the 80s

1985 Into The Groove - Madonna One of my fav Madonna tracks, great to dance and sing along to

1986 The Lady In Red - Chris De Burgh One sound - erghhhhh! Just plain mush

1987 I Just Can't Stop Loving You - Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett I seriously don't know this song?

1988 The Only Way Is Up - Yazz & The Plastic Population Never cared too much for this

1989 Swing The Mood - Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers Not a fan
