Subject: Song used in Diet Pepsi advert?

Written By: joiraida on 08/21/03 at 01:16 p.m.

Hi all,
This may sound like a stupid question because it is likely obvious to most people - but I DON'T KNOW IT! ???  Could someone please ID the ultra'80s-sounding tune used in the current Diet Pepsi TV advert in which a balding 30-something businessman 'gets back' all the hair he had in high school.  And it looks *really daft*! ;D  The lyrics go: "I'm on a lonely avenue...  I never thought - I'd - meet - a - girl - like you-uu (meet a girl like you-uu)"

I bet I get an instant reply, the song sounds quite mainstream.
Cheers in advance!
Joi

I ran by Flock of Seagulls.

I think Michael Jackson was in a Pepsi commercial and his hair blew up.

Yeah, and Neil Young did the song "This Notes For You" which spoofed a flaming MJ.  :D  Classic!  I remember they banned it in the USA because many of the companies he (Neil Young) satirized were sponsors of MTV.

That's the only Neil Young video I'll watch. :) It's funny! He can't sing to save his life, but he's got an interesting sense of humour!

The guy in the advert, when he gets back his hair, is supposed to be spoofing the hairstyle of Mike Score, the singer of A Flock Of Seagulls...who was quite well known for his bizarre hair. (He was originally a hairdresser and he got bored, and...voilą...the memorable hairstyle was born.) Whoever did the hair of the guy in the advert obviously didn't do a very good job, because Mike's hair didn't quite look like that, as you will see...:D
