iam having a 70s/80s night for my 21st birthday  chould any one give me any idea about what to wear for these music genres

anything elese to do with these two decvades ivge tryd looking in the main bit but i cant find the costume bit  for this any help whould be apprechated

Well, there were so many distinct styles in those 20 years.  But here are some you can try:

Rip off the collars and sleeves from sweat shirts, like in Flashdance.

Wear black suits, like Preppies

The punk look is still with us, just replace your piercings with safetypins.

For Miami Vice, lots of white.  White turtlenecks, white jackets, but cotton, by that time polyester was out.

The hippie was still around then also, tie dye t-shirts, and bleach dry jeans (same as with tie dye, but use bleach and bluejeans.

Let's not forget the urban waif look of the early Madonna.  Of course, you can get 2 aluminum cones and make a bra out of it for her "bionic boob" phase.

Glam Rock, look at pictures of Ziggy Stardust or The New York Dolls for ideas.  Men wearing make-up, and clothing that makes them look almost like a woman.

Disco, POLYESTER!!!  Shirts with big collars and bellbottom SLACKS.

Miami Vice, pastel colors, t-shirts under a linen sports jacket.  Izod shirts in pastel colors, usually layered, one pink shirt over a mint green, collars turned up.  Loafer type shoes, no socks.

70's pop, try looking up people like KC and the Sunshine Band, Leif Garret, Bay City Rollers and other popular artists of the 70's.

80's pop, you have so many styles to pick from, you can go New Wave, like Flock of Seagulls or Thompson Twins.  Or like the "Hair Bands"...using lots of denim and leather and ripped t-shirts.  Look at pictures of Bon Jovi and even Van Halen from the 80's.  

Try seaching local second-hand shops like GoodWill for clothing.
