Subject: Which music group would you have loved to been in?

Written By: Child_of_the_80s on 09/14/03 at 00:06 a.m.

I'll say Duran Duran because all the lovely ladies on this site seem to go crazy over them.

U2.  I know this is an all male group, but this would be the group I would want to be a part of.

Certainly during their Mid-70s and 80s periods, I would have loved to have seen what it would have been like being Mike Love of the Beach Boys.

I would love to have been involved with the pop group Madness. They seemed to be a wacky bunch so I would love getting involved with their hi-jinks.

Hehehe..."It's almost predictable...almost..." ;D

I probably don't even need to answer this question. You see my name, and I'm sure by now, just by seeing that, two bands come to mind: The Smiths and Depeche Mode. ;D

Yes I actually would have liked to have been in both, but probably The Smiths moreso. Morrissey and I seem to be on an even keel as far as personality goes. We'd get along extremely well, I think. And maybe if I were in The Smiths, I might have been able to mediate between him and Johnny Marr and perhaps kept the band together.

Depeche Mode...well, I just like the group so much and I really think it would have been fun being with them. I mean, performing with them. I mean...well you should know what I mean!!!!!! :P I would have loved the honour of singing backup for Martin Gore on any of his lead vocal tracks, or on any songs like "Everything Counts," and "Shake The Disease." Maybe I could have talked them out of recording and releasing some of the songs they did! I don't think I could have kept Alan Wilder in the group though, sadly. :(

I also would like to have been in R.E.M. and The Sex Pistols (Yes, I know the Pistols are not 80's). Michael Stipe and Johnny ("Rotten") Lydon are two more of my favourite people and I think it would be fun to have been able to be in their groups.

I'm going slightly mad. It finally happened. I'M SLIGHTLY MAD!!!!!

Not me. I mean, I did when I was a kid, but not so much these days. I still like them though. But then...no one ever said I was a "lovely lady." :D

I am...

AAAAARRRGG . . . Heh? Housemartins?

My girlie friend says I do stupid dances like them so I can probably understand that. 'Happy Hour again . . .'

If I danced around with the Brothers Goss I would have to die my hair platinum blonde and I don't think I want to waste that much money looking stupid.  ;D

Not necessarily!! The non-Goss member of Bros...whatever his name was...had brown hair! You just need to look sharp in a white T-shirt, rolled up blue jeans and Dr. Martens. Nothing wrong with that! And their music is nice, fluffy pop music! I thought you liked that...;D

Oh yeah. He's a bit like that bloke out of ZZ top who feels out of place because he hasn't got a beard. I forgot about him.

Ah! You know I love my fluffy pop music but Bros is where I draw the line. There  . . . That's put the cat amongst the pigeons!  ;D

Well, OK...we've established that you could be Housemartins material. But perhaps Dead Or Alive is also to your liking? Perhaps you would have like to have been in that group? They did work with Stock, Aitken and Waterman! ;D

You know, Vile I saw a video of Dead or Alive's re-release 'You spin me right round' and it was bizarre. The music was rubbish, trying to add as many voice effects as it could and the video involved Pete Burns looking like an androgenous female - It was quite a blow to the vision I had of what they did back in 1985.

Amazingly enough, Pete Burns looks amazing for his age - No doubt due to artificial techniques.

No. I wouldn't want to be in 'Dead or Alive'. Not my style. Of the Stock Aitken and Waterman period, I think I could take the place of Jason Donovan anytime - especially when he was with Kylie in 'Especially for you'.

DOA fans should check out the recently released 'Evolution' DVD which features most of their videos (including the 2003 version of 'You Spin Me...') plus the Rip It Up concert filmed over 2 nights in Japan.
Although I'm grateful to see ANY Dead Or Alive material released on DVD, the Japanese concert is (imo) kinda disappointing. I can't quite work out whether the whole show is mimed, or studio vocals have been added in the edit.
Don't even get me started on those freakin' go-go boys who try to steal the show... ;)

I don't know, them go-go boys heh?  ;)

Dead or Alive (esp. Pete Burns) were, according to Pete Waterman, the most argumentative band he ever produced for. All three producers often got into fights with Dead or Alive.
