My favourite Depeche Mode song just happens to come from 1985 (and is on Catching Up... as well)! "Shake The Disease!" :) As for "Fly On The Windscreen," I prefer the "final" one that's on Black Celebration.

Good bands...my favourites there being The Psychedelic Furs and Love And Rockets. I'll have to go through my stuff to see what favourites from 1985 I can come up with. I agree with several of the choices though! :)

These two albums by L&R, "The Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven," and "Earth, Sun, Moon," are golden greats.  Their work after that became spotty and less cohesive.  Good songs here and there, but no single album I found worthwhile.
Peter Murphy's done some interesting music, and some quite boring.  His latest, "Dust," is excellent.  He's been living in Turkey and the music has a heavy Middle Eastern influence.

It's kinda cornball, I suppose, but I still love it.  It reflected a lot of my true sentiments about love at sixteen.  "A Good Heart" was written by Maria McKee of Lone Justice.  You may remember their country-rock hit "Ways to be Wicked."  Great song.  I didn't hear the Undertones until after I heard FS solo.  The Undertones were one of the coolest and cleverest punk bands of all!  :D

I only know one Undertones song and that's 'My Perfect Cousin'. Brilliant song.

Maria McKee also sung 'Show me heaven' which was also a brilliant song.

Just out of curiosity...are you confusing Love And Rockets with Bauhaus? Love And Rockets did release Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven and Earth, Sun, Moon, and both bands share the same members, except Peter Murphy sang with Bauhaus, who did their "hit," "Bela Lugosi's Dead" and other great songs. They broke up, and Murphy didn't want to reunite with the rest of them, so Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins formed Love And Rockets with Daniel Ash and David J on vocals.

Forgive me if I've missed something somewhere...;D

I love Bauhaus, too.  I just didn't mention the Bauhaus origins of both PM and L&R.  My favorite Bauhaus album is "Mask," but "The Sky's Gone Out" is a close second.  I like the fact that I still see young Goth kids wearing Bauhaus shirts. 8)

Keep reading these songs and get such a lonely sickly (inexplicable) feeling of memories from that time, when we lived in Denver.  When I look at the listings above, each song causes a quick flash of a place I must have been, when I heard the song, just can't express the feeling, but I kinda like it :D!

Actually, I beg to differ - they were all released in 1985 in the UK.

Although there are many decent songs listed, I always thought that 1985 was kind of the "off" year during the decade when it came to music. Compared to the years surrounding it, 1985 just plain stunk. And, "The boys of summer" was definitly a 1984 hit!

Criz, either everyhit.com is inaccurate or UK was way behind the times with "White Wedding."  I thought it sounded weird, because I heard it way before 1985 here in the US.  So, I went to billyidol.com and it said it was released in 1982 and it charted in 1983 where it peaked at #36, but was huge on MTV.  Things that make you go hmmmm.....    :-/
