Subject: Song Title - Artist??

Written By: hah on 09/28/03 at 04:07 p.m.

Did anyone hear the song that was played at the beginning & end of the CBS show 'Without A Trace' on Thursday night?

It was a re-make/cover from either the late 80's/early 90's

In the lyrics were:  "I'm happiest when I'm dying"....

I was singing it the other night, but now I can't remember anything else.  I was thinking it was a Depeche song, but I couldn't find it on my discs.    If I can find the original, maybe I can find the cover.

Thanks!

Are you sure those are the correct lyrics? The only thing I can think of that even comes close would be "The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had" which is from "Mad World" by Tears For Fears, one of my favourite songs of theirs.

Being very familiar with Depeche Mode songs, especially from the 80's, I can pretty much say "I'm happiest when I'm dying" is not in any of their songs...not even on Black Celebration. ;D

That's it!!   :-*  Thanks so much!!  I knew it was from that general era -- but I listened to so many different songs this am - that I couldn't place it - at all.

Thanks again!!

I caught that too.

It's an absolutely fantastic cover of Mad World done by Gary Jules. That version was also used in the movie Donnie Darko.

I was visiting a friend and her roommate had that show on and I just barely heard it and went running into the other room to check it out. I've only heard it a couple times and I have to say it's one of the best covers I've ever heard. IMHO I'dsay it was just as good as the original and I'm a HUGE fan of the album it came off, 'The Hurting'.

You are amazing! - I can't believe how good you are at picking up these song lyrics and figuring out the correct song!

Actually here's a link to his CD on CDBaby. It has a 2 minute sample of that song.

That was just a lucky guess!! I have never seen the show "Without A Trace" nor have I heard of it. I didn't even know of the cover of "Mad World" until another discussion of the same song on a different thread (the one discussing the word "halogeon.") :D

"I'm happiest when I'm dying"...it didn't seem like a Depeche lyric to me, and I'd like to think I know most of their songs (at least from the 80's) fairly well. Sooo...I thought of the one lyric that stuck out in my mind that even came close: "The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had." "Mad World" - Tears For Fears. Don't ask me how I get these songs right. I must have a vast knowledge of song lyrics! I listened to the radio a lot in the 80's (when they played good music), and now since radio completely sucks, I listen to my albums and watch so-called "retro" shows on MuchMoreMusic. So I know my 80's! :D Ask me about anything current though, and I probably wouldn't have a clue. :)
