Jesse and the gang are going to modify/destroy a classic DeLorean tonight, and make it into a hovercraft.. I hope I get home in time to see it tonight (it's on at 9PM and I think 12PM too EST).. I say destroy, only because sometimes they don't actually succede in their transformations.. I'm sure one less DeLorean isn't going to suddenly make them all wicked expensive

Neat!  Of course, they're semi-rare enough as it is.  They certainly don't rust away. (stainless steel body for those of you who didn't know).

I got to drive a turbo charged one in 1989.  Pretty nice, except for the side windows that only roll down half way.  I wish all cars had the gull-wing doors.  There wouldn't be any door dings anymore if they did.

Can you imagine driving down the highway in that one pictured on that URL you posted? heheh...  "where's my Mr.Fusion"  ;D

The DeLorean was a nice Idea, good looking car back then. But look at the way they design gullwing doors on Lambos, they fold forward ( so you can get in and out at parking lots ).
As far as rare, look around Ebay, you would be surprised at how many are available and still look good.

It was pretty cool.  John DeLorean was on the verge of changing automotive history with his idea of getting fancy looking cars affordable to the masses.  'Guess he pi$$ed off a lot of auto execs..  :D
