Subject: 80s(?) movie with Roy Schneider(?)

Written By: K1chyd on 10/17/03 at 09:04 a.m.

Okkies, I need some help with figuring out the title of a movie that I THINK is from the 80s. Though I donīt know for sure. But Iīm posting here cos one gotta start somewhere, right?  :)

Itīs about a bunch of students on a debate technic team in some American School. The teacher is played by (I think) Roy Schneider. Heīs some kind of rhetorical technique teacher. Itīs probably at university level. The main issue discussed throughout the movie is abortions and rethorical techniques. In the end students from the school debate against students from another school in front of judges including IRL judges from the supreme court. They "win" when their female team member starts telling about personal experiences. Early in the movie, when the new students arrive thereīs a scene where the teacher is drilling the students he already have. One guy is arguing for something. The teachers says something like; "Take the opposite approach, 30 seconds" and the student totally changes his arguing.

Thatīs all I remember from the top of my head right now.
