i have been working on a 80's 6 disc compulation ((120 songs)) and there is a song that has been eluding me.

i heard this song on a commerical.  basically a women get's out of her mini van and see's an old 80's friend from the past(the friend is still dressed as if she still lived in the 80's).  the song is great....i don't know who sings it...and if anyone has any suggestions for what songs i should put on the 6 disc feel free....

the song kind of has that club sound to it.  like just can't get enough by depeche mode

I've seen that commercial so many times; the song is called "I Ran (So Far Away)" by Flock of Seagulls. That song is also played on a Pepsi commercial with a business man who wishes he had the same hair as he had in highschool...

"I Ran" was also used for Vice City commercials, which 'really' sets the complete mood. :D

Other than that, I don't care much for nostalgic songs used to sell stuff.  It reminds me of a comic strip I read where the Boomers hear a tune they really remember, and the daughter comes in and says, "You're all dancing to a car commercial!!!" :)

I think I just saw that commercial on TV. But it's not "I Ran". I'm almost positive it's a YAZ song.... It sond's a lot like "don't go" if it is not that indeed. try the album "Up Stairs at Erics by YAZ.
