Wine coolers.  Probably Bartles & Jaymes, Sun Country, or Fletcher & Oakes.

"Cocktails" because they go down easy. White Russian, a mixture of Vodka, Kahlua and milk was always popular. I also recall an old favorite called "Pink Champale".

This is one for the Aussies - Island Coolers.  Does anyone remember them?  They were very popular and then West Coast Coolers took off and everyone was drinking that.  I used to love Island Coolers though.

All I drank thru the 80's was Johnnie Walker with Coke and the occassional silly named cocktail - anything blue and on fire was fine with me - flaming lamborghini's, screaming orgasms, slow comfortable screws against the wall - hehehehe we only ordered them cos it sounded cool to ask a male bar tender for it !!  Loved the occassional Pina Colada when my nut allergy would let me get away with it !

Yes, I remember Island Coolers!   In the 80s Malibu was pretty popular.  My favourite drink was "Bundy Smooth" - Bundaberg Rum and orange juice.  Still have one occasionally.

Personally speaking I was drinking pints of either bitter (Everards Tiger usually) or cider.  If I drank shorts it was either vodka and orange or dry martini and lemonade.

When I was clubbing in '87-'89 most of the ladies I hung out with were drinking Long Island Iced-Teas, something with milk, ice, and a liquer in it (can't for the life of me remember what it was called  ???) similar to a Black Russian shooter, and "Barbarian" coolers.  And for about a year there, Foster's beer as anything and everything Australian was the in thing.  :P (apologies to our Aussie friendz  :)).

Hi fellow Canadian,

I think that's called a White Russian.

I was only 13 when the 80s ended, but I sure remember those Foster's commercials.

Hey Bloo!

Yeah, I remember (just before hitting the floor -- haha, just kidding  ;)) downing Black Russian shooters.  But the other drink had milk, Creme de Cacao (spelling??), and some other stuff.. cinnamon sprinkled on top as well?  Give me a bit of time, I know I'll remember it .. i've been checking out

But so far no joy.

Remember when there was a short trend to make every drink CLEAR?

There was clear cola, and even a  clear beer!

How dumb! LOL

We used to always do shots of kamakazi's, which was Vodka, lime juice and triple sec.  I haven't heard about them since back then ('82-'83).  Of course after enough of them, we'd change the "c" on the triple sec label to an "x"! LOL
