Nah...my favourite would definitely have to be
KRAFTWERK!!

OK, they're more late-70's, but they paved the way for many electronic bands to come in the 80's. ;D

Kraftwerk in the '80s:

1981 April ELEKTRO KINETIC
1981 April Pocket Calculator
1981 May COMPUTER WORLD
1981 June Computer Love
1983 July Tour de France
1986 October Musique Non Stop
1986 November ELECTRIC CAFE
1986 Boing Boom Tschak
1986 ROBOTS
1987 February The Telephone Call
1989 The Mix

Note: they cancelled the "Tour de France" full-length  :'(
much to the frustration of fans worldwide.  TDF was
one of their all time best songs.  Kraftwerk did release an updated TDF single this year, and a full-length called "Tour de France," which is OK, but I can't imagine it's as good as the one they deprived us of in 1984!

Other Deutsche pop of the '80s:

Nina Hagen (Hagen das ist gut!!)
Einsturzende Neaubauten (going strong still)
Die Toten Hosen
Peter Schilling
Nena
DAF
Falco (does Austria Count?)
Yello (How about Switzerland?)
Helloween (bad metal)
Accept (Balls to the Wall metal)
Herbert Gronemeyer (The Peter Gabriel of Germany)
Die Krupps
Trio (Da Da Da future Volkswagen jingle rock)

"Da da da" is being used for a brand of rice crackers in New Zealand.  ;D  They're called Sakata.  :P
