Subject: 8-bit NES, THE best video game system of all time!

Written By: AndrewTalkingWalnut on 01/16/04 at 10:43 a.m.

No video game system will ever in my opinion have such a huge and lasting impact as the 8-bit NES, with all it's cool accesories and stuff.

Three Cheers for the 8-bit NES, THE all time Best video game system.

Now with emulators and roms, you can play all your favorite NES games whenever you want on your PC. I personally have about 800 NES games right now, but nothing compares to playing them on that grey and black box.

NES was and always will be the best system.

Yeah, emulators are great, but playing them on the original hardware is always best (though I have to admit my favorite console is the Super Nintendo...).

I've got over 8000, if you include all of the clones, public domain games, and bad dumps :)

Personally, I hate consoles. Consoles ruined the coin-operated video games business (which is really the manufacturers' fault, but that's for another thread). I think too much respect is given to consoles when the true roots of video gaming came from coinops. I bristle in utter RAGE when I hear someone call Pac-Man "Pac-Man by Atari" AAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!!! It's a NAMCO game licensed by Midway for the coin-op market, and then licensed by Atari for the 2600 (which is a SHIT version; no fault of the programmer himself, as he was pushed to finish it in six weeks with limited resources). it was a HUGE success in the arcades first!! Same with Williams' Defender, Midway/Taito's Space Invaders, Atari's Asteroids and Missile Command, Ms. Pac-Man, and quite a few others.

Just my pathetic, classic coin-op arcade game junkie opinion :)

From one "classic coin-op arcade game junkie" to another -

Hey, I agree. There's nothing pathetic about the truth. :)
