Subject: V: The Minisiries

Written By: rubixgirl on 01/16/04 at 02:06 p.m.

Well V was brought up in the fave movie thread. And since there seemed to be some interest I started this thread. B/c I really liked that mini-series too.
I remember my mom didn't want me watching it, as she thought it would be too scary.  :o But I did anyway  :PAnd I think it was for its time. (the special effects are slightly cheesy). But I loved the story. ;D

I think the girl getting pregnant by the alien was really freaky.
It should be interesting to see how they do the follow up this year.

Looks like Marc Singer reprises his role as Donovan.
So, what do you think? You think the follow up will be any good?
What do you think of the orginial?

I didn't know they were doing a follow up.  That will be cool.  I loved the mini series (I thought Marc Singer was hot).  I can't wait. :D

Oh,I loved that mini-series,too. And was happy when they came out with the tv show. Too bad it didn't last long. :-/I am anxious to see the new movie to see what's gonna happen and what the special effects will be like. Do you think they'll pick it up where the tv show left off?
P.S.Thanks for making this thread. It's nice to know there are more V fans out there.

They show it fairly often on Sci-Fi channel, so you might want to watch there for reruns.  The first and second miniseries are available on DVD and VHS however.

Here's the synopsis of the follow up:Twenty years after their arrival on Earth, the Visitors have deeply entrenched themselves on the planet, enslaving the human race turning them into followers. The Resistance is losing the war with their alien masters until they gain a powerful and mysterious new ally.
(from imdb.com)
Also, you can buy the movie and the mini-series b/c its been released on DVD. These links are from amazon.com, but you may be able to find them cheaper on the web.

I loved this show and movies.  I had the hugest crush on Marc Singer.  The only proble was it was on Friday nights at the same time as Dallas.  My mom won that battle.  I had my cousin to start watching V and giving me a synopsis of it.  She took great notes.  Ha!  I eventually got to see the entire run.

I had a similar problem, RubixGrrrl.  How did the series end?  Last I heard, they developed some red dust that killed the lizards, and they all fled.  And I think Freddy Kruger fathered a half lizard, half human with some gorgeous blonde chick.

Am I even close on this?  I think I know why the series ended..  ;D

Yeah, that was a good show. I remember the rodent eating  :) I liked the way they peeled off their human outfits, too  :P

You know I don't really remember the ending, except that while the people did have some type of victory, it was also left open ended. I need to go rent the DVD's and re-watch it.
I wonder if the DVD has any special features? anyone know?

Is it just me or does the new "follow up" sound like the plot of the movie instead of anything new?
You know where the hybrid girl saves everyone in the end by absorbing all the radiation from the weaponry that the visitors were going to use...

I knew that the experiment D'ana did to create the hybrid did back fire against the visitors.
I really need to watch the DVD.

I thought the girl in the end saved us all by being able to (mystically?) deactivate the Doomsday self-destruct mechanism of the mothership?

Subject: Re: V: The Minisiries

When I said back fire, I meant that D'ana meant the child to be harmful to the humans and the child acutually saved them instead.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but yeah, they were going to use some great weapon (I suppose the ship itself) and the hybrid girl, who was supposed to be bad, saved everyone by absorbing the radiation and keeping it from going off... it sounds like the plot of the follow up

Yeah, it seems the new one will focus on some type of 1/2 alien 1/2 human being.
Or they may put a twist on it.
I just hope Hollywood doesn't cheese it up.

I JUST FINISHED WATCHING IT AGAIN. IT WAS GREAT. THE LITTLE BABY LIZZARD THAT ROBIN HAD WAS SO WEIRD LOOKING. BUT ELIZABETH LOOKED  NORMAL TILL SHE STUCK OUT HER TONGUE. THEY CAME UP WITH SOME KIND OF RED DUST THAT KILLED THE VISITORS.AND THE SHIPS WERE ALL LEAVING EXCEPT THE ONE THAT DIANA WAS IN CONTROL OF AND SHE TRIED TO BLOW IT UP ALONG WITH EARTH AND ELIZABETH DID ABSORB THE RADIATION SO THAT IT WON'T. IT DOES LEAVE IT OPEN ENDED, SO THAT THEY CAN CONTINUE IT IF THEY WANT. SEEMS NOW THEY WANT TO. HOPE THIS ONE IS AS GOOD AS THE LAST ONE. MAYBE EVEN BETTER EFFECTS.

Yeah, hopefully it will be really good. It would be ashame to be dissapointed after the first series was so good.
