Subject: Movie soundtrack of your 80s experiences

Written By: stingr22 on 01/17/04 at 00:41 a.m.

Say that they're making a movie about your life as a teenager in the 80s.  You get to pick the songs for the soundtrack.  Think back to the music you listened to, cruised to, "made out" to, or songs that you listened to when your heart was broke.  At least 10 songs - no more than 12.  And no more than one song from each artist.  What will they be?  Here are mine...

1.  The One Thing - INXS
2.  Is There Something I Should Know - Duran Duran
3.  New Year's Day - U2
4.  Who's Crying Now - Journey
5.  One In A Million - The Romantics
6.  Just Between You And Me - April Wine
7.  I'll Wait - Van Halen
8.  Why Can't I Have You - The Cars
9.  It's My Life - Talk Talk
10. Ain't Even Done With The Night - John Cougar
11. The Girl Gets Around - Sammy Hagar
12. Live It Up - Mental As Anything

"Killing An Arab" is by The Cure. It's one of their earliest songs.

Absolutely Vile

Sad mistake...was in a hurry while time-wasting on the job. I noticed the mistake later when I was discussing with my old friend who turned me on to both bands

A fun anecdote: Picture two wavers walking into soccer practice in northeast, rural Missouri singing Killing An Arab at the top of their lungs. We weren't quite right back then.

This was tough, I tried to stick to "cruisin" tunes....

1. Bang Your Head(Metal Health) - Quiet Riot
2. Rock Me - Great White
3. I Remember You - Skid Row
4. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
5. Here I Go Again - Whitesnake
6. Turn Up The Radio - Autograph
7. You've Got Another Thing Comin' - Judas Priest
8. Rock Of Ages - Def Leppard
9. Wanted Dead Or Alive - Bon Jovi
10. Summer Of '69 - Bryan Adams

These were the "windows open - I don't care who listens to how badly I sing - summer days - cruisin' down the road in my puke-green 1978 Chevy Impala station wagon with 140,000 miles on it - filled with my buddies" songs of my "formative" years of 1985-1987. Thanks for the nostalgic lead thread. Later. 8)

My 10 songs would definitely be:
1) "Is This Love" by Survivor
2) "Just What I Needed" by The Cars
3) "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler
4) "Just A Gigolo (Ain't Got Nobody)" by David Lee Roth
5) "If You Leave" by OMD
6) "I Know There's Something Going On" by Frida
7) "Little Too Late" by Pat Benatar
8) "Electric Blue" by Icehouse
9) "There Must Be An Angel (Playing with my heart)" by Eurythmics
10) "I'll Be There For You" by Bon Jovi
... and of course - "Oh No" by the Commodores
... and if a movie from the '80s represented my life, it would definitely be "The Last American Virgin" ;)
