Actually the posters that covered (and I mean you could see none of my walls) my room was between John Taylor (Duran Duran) and Kirk Cameron.

I also had Duran Duran. Mostly John, though.  ;)I used to get Teen Beat,Tiger Beat,16,Bop and basically plaster my walls with who I liked. There was Michael J. Fox,Wham!,Don Johnson(I'm a little ashamed to admit that),to name a few. When I went thru my glam rock phase I had one huge poster of Jon Bon Jovi that I got as a gift for my birthday. But I would do the same thing with my Metal Edge magazines as I did with the teenie magazines. :D

I found out later that certain family friends asked my mother if I was gay.  Those Duran and Depeche posters were marketed for girls!  I hung the posters because I was a fan of the music, not because I'd like to go to bed with them!  And even if I did, what of it?
A while back Nick Rhodes explained the bashing they got from critics:
Critics like music for boys.  Duran Duran was music for girls...and boys...and everything in between!
--Nick Rhodes
...But don't get me started on stupid "rock" critics! >:(
As for teen 'zines, the only one I liked was Star Hits, because they featured all the British pop groups the American press ignored.

I had some weird stuff on the walls now that I think about it..

The Smiths - Shoplifters of the World Unite-bright Pink with b&w early pic of Elvis..
Fishbone-giant Upsidedown fish skelton.
The Cure - the freaky one from Head On The Door with red dots for eyes..

Looking back, my parents never said anything, but I'm sure the posters must have worried them. ;D

I remember having Duran Duran (especially John and Nick) and INXS and Michael Hutchence on my walls. I'm not sure of anyone else. I was an avid reader of Smash Hits magazine because I was (and still am) into a lot of British music and it wasn't really being written about anywhere else. I also found it rather amusing, and I have it to thank for introducing me to a lot of groups I like now! :) I collect old issues now.

These days, I have Depeche Mode, The Smiths, and Morrissey on the walls. (Surprise, surprise!!) :D

Which Elvis?  You probably mean the Elvis, but that reminds me, I forgot to list my big Elvis Costello poster, "Allison...My Aim is True."
I too had the Cure "Head on the Door" poster. 8)

Yes, it would be Elvis Presley. I have the single for "Shoplifters Of The World Unite" on 7". There's a black and white picture of Elvis wearing a suit with a bow tie. :)

Absolutely right, Absolutely Vile, it was a 7 foot poster for the single of "Shoplifters Of The World Unite".  It just like your 7", but it has a huge bright pink boarder around the pic of Elvis.
A lot of people/friends found the contrast of b&w Elvis pic(w/greasy hair) & the pink boarder/frame kinda disturbing..thats why I liked it.
A lot of Smiths artwork/single & album covers had this surreal strange/disturbing quality (Meat Is Murder, Louder Than Bombs)..who was responsible for them? The Moz himself?

I too got all the teen magazines of the times.  My walls, mirrors and bullentin board was plastered with the heart throbs of the times.  My main men though were:
Steve Perry and Journey.
David Lee Roth
John Stamos
Don Johnson
Jack Wagner

And although I liked him, I never had a poster of him,
Micheal Jackson.

Yes, Morrissey was responsible for all the cover art for The Smiths' albums and singles. I agree with you and love them all myself! Wonderful photography...

If you want more information on the cover art and cover stars, go to: www.oz.net/~moz/images/thumbs/cstar.htm It's a detailed account of everyone who appears on their albums and singles. Very interesting, and the whole website itself is a good Smiths and Morrissey site! (And no, it's not mine!) :D

Back in the 80s I had the following posters until my spiteful brothers got mad at me and ripped them up.  The bastards!! >:(

Depeche Mode
Warrant
Skid Row
Bon Jovi
Michael Jackson
New Edition
Madonna
Great White
U2

But most of the time I would buy the teen magazines and I used to cut the pages out & post them on my walls...

I had a Jordan Knight poster (which I personalized by putting a pink lipstick print on his cheek) and a poster for the movie "License to Drive" which starred the Coreys.
