Subject: What was the name of this movie?

When I was a kid, I once watched a movie about two teenage friends who came from very different backgrounds. One was a brunette who came from a wealthy home while the other was a blonde who came from a not-so-wealthy home. The brunette's mother didn't like the blonde---I guess she was prejudice. That's pretty much all I remember about the movie other than enjoying watching it at the time. Don't even remember who was in it. I only saw the movie once.
